Celebrating Our Anniversary with Premium Hanwoo at Sijeol Uyeon in Dosan Park

Last weekend, my girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary at Sijeol Uyeon, a restaurant near Dosan Park with a great ambiance. I'm writing this review because we had such a wonderful experience enjoying the private space, luxurious side dishes, and top-quality Hanwoo beef.
Sijeol Uyeon, which we visited that day, was located within a 15-minute drive from Dosan Park. Thanks to the eye-catching sign and lighting, we were able to find it easily even though it was our first time.
As soon as we entered the first floor, we were greeted by a warm and cozy atmosphere. The tables were spaced generously apart, adding to the pleasant feel.
The first floor looked great, but since we had a reservation, we were guided to a private room on the second floor. It was neatly set up for two people. As soon as the staff left after showing us in, my girlfriend showered me with praise for choosing such a great place!
The menu was also very elegant. They offer carefully selected premium Hanwoo from Daegwallyeong.
The ambiance made it seem like it would cost around 300,000 KRW per person, but the prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially for lunch. I think it would be a great spot for people working in the area.
Since we were celebrating a special occasion, we didn't hesitate to order what we wanted. We chose a course menu, and everything from the appetizer to the main course was of excellent quality. The perilla seed sauce salad, served as an appetizer, was a perfect blend of tangy balsamic and nutty perilla seed sauce, stimulating our appetites.
The romaine lettuce was also very fresh and had a great crispy texture.
The homemade pickled cucumbers looked quite unique compared to what we were used to. I was a little hesitant at first, wondering if they would be too soft, but I was surprised to find that they were still crunchy and refreshing.
The lotus root and assorted pickled vegetables also paired well with the meat. It was a delicious combination of lotus root, cucumber, and other vegetables.
It felt like it had been a while since I had lotus root. I didn't like it much when I was younger, but now it's one of the dishes I can't get enough of.
Now, let's get to grilling the meat. We chose Unchisal (Beef Navel End) and Tenderloin. The staff explained the menu in detail, making it easy to choose.
Tenderloin is the most tender cut of beef. It's a premium cut because it's located deep inside the rib cage, so only a small amount is available per cow.
The thickness and color were excellent. It may look small, but it's quite thick, so the portion is actually generous.
Dosan Park's Tenderloin has a clean and elegant flavor, making it perfect for steak. It was flavorful and delicious even without any sauce.
It's also a good cut for dieting because it's low in fat. Since my girlfriend is currently focused on dieting, I let her have most of the tenderloin and I focused on the flavorful Unchisal.
It is recommended to eat Unchisal from Dosan Park with a little salt or wasabi so you can fully enjoy the original taste of the beef. The moment I took a bite, the juices burst in my mouth, and I couldn't help but exclaim in admiration.
Wasabi is good, but I personally think that sprinkling it with bay salt is a better way to feel the original taste. Can you see that thickness? The meat flavor melts in your mouth the moment you chew it.
It would be a shame not to have alcohol on a good day. I added wine, and the staff at Dosan Park recommended something that paired well, so I chose it with confidence.
My girlfriend prefers to eat it with side dishes like this. I told her to try it with just a little salt, but what can I do? She eats it the way she wants.
Of course, as a Korean, I can't resist Pa-kimchi (scallion kimchi). I enjoyed a bite with the spicy and fragrant scallion flavor.
If you are Korean, it would be a shame if you didn't have rice. I also ordered Dosan Park's Hanwoo Makjang (fermented soybean paste) stew, which was very savory and delicious. They say it's made with Mak-doenjang (fermented soybean paste) from Gangwon-do, and it had a great flavor because it was homemade.
If I worked near here, I would definitely come and eat it once a week.
They didn't skimp on the meat in the stew, so the chewing texture was excellent.
It doesn't end here. I couldn't resist my curiosity and ended up ordering the Katsu Sando, which is said to be Dosan Park's best menu. I ordered the Katsu Sando, which costs 62,000 won for four pieces, because I was curious about what it would taste like, and there was a reason why it was the best menu...
We sprinkled a little gold powder on it and shared two pieces each for dessert. I had a really satisfying meal at Sijeol Uyeon in Dosan Park. I didn't know there was such a hidden gem in Cheongdam-dong, so I will definitely use it often for special occasions in the future.
