Bingo Seonsuljip: A Cozy Izakaya in Bongcheon Station Perfect for Fresh Sashimi and Drinks

I discovered a fantastic izakaya near Bongcheon Station, perfect for enjoying drinks in a relaxed atmosphere with fresh sashimi as an appetizer. I anticipate becoming a regular, so I've compiled a review of the menu items I tried.
1. Location and Hours
A friend recommended a great spot, and I went with them. It's Bingo Seonsuljip, the main branch near Bongcheon Station.

Bingo Seonsuljip's main branch is conveniently located on the first floor. They also have signature menu items you can only find here, which was perfect for me since I consider the quality of the food to be an important factor when choosing a place to drink.
2. Atmosphere
The interior has a charming and cozy concept. The warm atmosphere and the owner's kindness made it a great place to relax and unwind.
There's also a more private space inside, allowing for focused conversation.
The open kitchen eliminates any concerns about hygiene. Various sake bottles and cute props are displayed in front of the kitchen.
With signed guitars and various props, the place exudes a warm vibe. It's the perfect atmosphere to warm up and enjoy a drink, especially when the weather is chilly.
They also accept Seoul Pay. I was impressed by the thoughtfulness of providing dental floss and mouthwash in the restroom. The attention to detail in small aspects was truly touching.
3. Menu Recommendations
Ordering was easy using a QR code. The menu selection was surprisingly diverse, including sashimi, fried dishes, hot pot, and pasta. The variety of options is a definite plus for an izakaya.
I remembered seeing "Yakitori" when entering the restaurant, so I ordered skewers without hesitation. Seeing them grilled in the open kitchen gave me confidence in the food.
Signature Yakitori 6-Piece Set: ₩23,000
There was a signature set, which made choosing easier. It included pork belly, chicken and green onion, tomato bacon, chicken neck, chicken wing, and pork jowl. All were thick and substantial, making my mouth water just by looking at them.
The thick pork belly skewer was juicy and flavorful, perfect for coating the throat with deliciousness. The tomato bacon had a perfect balance of sweet and savory, with the burst of hot, sweet juice from the tomato complementing the saltiness of the bacon.
Bacon Cheese: ₩4,000
I also ordered bacon cheese as an additional item. The chewy cheese with honey was the perfect snack to enjoy with drinks.
Sundubu Hot Pot: ₩21,000
Since I always need a soup dish when drinking, I ordered the Sundubu Hot Pot. The spicy and rich broth with soft tofu was incredibly satisfying.
Signature Jambon Pasta: ₩18,000
Despite being an izakaya, they had a decent selection of pasta, so I ordered the Signature Jambon Pasta. It was a fusion pasta with miso garlic pasta topped with handmade jambon, offering both Western and Japanese flavors.
The miso garlic sauce, both savory and garlicky, enhanced the chewy noodles. The handmade jambon was tender and not too salty, and the melting snow cheese added a rich and luxurious flavor.
Shime Saba (Pickled Mackerel): ₩23,000
The highlight was the Shime Saba. I used to think mackerel was always fishy, but this completely changed my mind.
At first, I was surprised to see the raw fish, but it wasn't fishy at all. It was incredibly fresh and flavorful, unlike anything I'd ever had. The Shime Saba is pickled in-house daily, ensuring a chewy texture and fresh flavor without any fishiness.
They even provided instructions on how to best enjoy the Shime Saba. The attention to detail made me feel even more appreciated.
Following the instructions, I tried a piece of mackerel with soy sauce, sesame seeds, green onions, ginger, and radish sprouts.
After a sip of cold sake, the savory and umami flavors of the Shime Saba were incredibly vibrant.
I wanted to try it a bit more oily, so I asked the staff to torch it slightly. The torched Shime Saba had a delicious, nutty aroma from the skin and a clean oiliness, making it the perfect accompaniment to drinks.
Dipping it in the perilla seed sauce elevated the nuttiness to another level. The unique flavor of the Shime Saba combined with the popping texture and nuttiness of the perilla seeds was incredibly addictive.
Tsukune (Chicken Meatball): ₩5,000
The food was so good that I kept drinking, so I ended up ordering more. The handmade Tsukune, made with ground chicken and cartilage, had a wonderful texture. Dipping it in the runny egg yolk enhanced the richness.
Melting Squid Sashimi: ₩29,000
I finished with the Squid Sashimi. Surprisingly, it wasn't the chewy squid I was used to, but a melting style, making it easy to enjoy.
The combination of popping fish roe, melting squid sashimi, and spicy and sour sauce created a delightful explosion of flavors in my mouth.
This izakaya near Bongcheon Station offers high-quality food, from fresh sashimi to various yakitori, making it the perfect place to drink. Plus, the cozy atmosphere makes me want to visit often whenever I crave a drink.
