Arirang Gimbap: A Delicious Quick Bite in Ulleungdo

Upon arriving in Ulleungdo around 11:30 AM, we heard the exciting news that docking at Dokdo was possible! To grab a quick bite, we visited Arirang Gimbap near Jeodong Port in Ulleungdo, a place famous for its squid ink gimbap.

Arirang Gimbap is known as a popular gimbap restaurant, especially for those heading back to the mainland from Ulleungdo.
Because ferry times are crucial, they usually take reservations a day in advance for quick pick-up. Luckily, since we were planning to eat there, we were able to order on the spot.
* Recently, they've been limiting sales to 200 rolls per day and closing when they run out of ingredients, so be sure to make a reservation!

Perhaps because they recently relocated and expanded, the interior was clean and spacious.
They offer self-serve ramen and side dishes for customers dining in.

Since only gimbap and self-serve ramen are available for dining in, we ordered the Squid Ink Gimbap and Myeongyi (Wild Garlic) Gimbap.
While waiting for our order, we read about the benefits of squid ink and myeongyi.

The Squid Ink Gimbap had rice infused with squid ink, and the other ingredients were similar to regular gimbap. The Myeongyi Gimbap had added myeongyi namul (pickled wild garlic leaves), which was a bit saltier and tastier!

After enjoying our meal, the owner generously gave us each a complimentary glass of pumpkin sikhye (sweet rice drink). It was homemade, so it wasn't overly sweet or starchy, and it was the perfect palate cleanser. It was absolutely delicious!

My first meal in Ulleungdo at Arirang Gimbap, featuring their Squid Ink Gimbap and Pumpkin Sikhye, was truly delicious! If you're looking for a quick bite, I highly recommend Arirang Gimbap :)
