Angel Gopchang: The Perfect Gopchang Spot in Hongdae!
When you're in Hongdae and thinking, "Tonight, I really want some gopchang and a drink!", one place immediately comes to mind:
It's Angel Gopchang.
There are many delicious gopchang restaurants, but this place is truly the best because it hits all three marks: atmosphere, taste, and friendliness.
Location & Atmosphere
Angel Gopchang is located in an alley near Exit 9 of Hongik University Station. It's easy to find because it's close to the main street, and it's a great place for company dinners, dates, and gatherings with friends.
The exterior is full of slightly retro signs and posters, so it's sure to catch your eye as you pass by!
The interior is filled with manga and movie posters, really bringing the "Hongdae vibe" to life!
Owner & Service
The owner is incredibly friendly. From explaining the menu to grilling the gopchang for you, you'll immediately think, "Ah, there's a reason why this place has so many regulars." They made me feel comfortable even on my first visit.
Good service means extra treats! We received yukhoe (beef tartare) and noodles as a service!
Many gopchang restaurants don't put much effort into side dishes, but here, you can feel the care in each one. The fresh kimchi, pickled onions, and anchovy noodle soup are all delicious, so you can't stop using your chopsticks while waiting for the gopchang...
I heard that all the side dishes are lovingly made by the owner!

Assorted Gopchang
The visuals are overwhelming from the start. The hot plate is generously topped with gopchang (small intestine), daechang (large intestine), makchang (last part of the small intestine), and chives. The moment the savory aroma spreads, your salivary glands explode...
The gopchang is chewy, the daechang is savory and tender, and the makchang is even infused with a smoky flavor, making it incredibly satisfying to chew. Eating it with the tteok (rice cakes) that come with it is perfect as a side dish with alcohol.
When you come here, you absolutely have to enjoy the final touch.
The fried rice, stir-fried after eating the gopchang, is a perfect combination of seaweed flakes, chives, and savory gopchang oil.
The noodles have a light yet spicy flavor, making them a great way to cleanse your palate after eating the greasy gopchang.
Bonus Point
There's a cute dog in front of the store!
Finishing off the perfect course by petting the dog after enjoying delicious gopchang!
