The perfection of seasonal sea bass sashimi and...

...the chewy texture of conger eel sekkosi (small bone sashimi)!

Fishing Village Era, Cheongcheon

Hello everyone!

On a beautiful day when I was craving some fresh sashimi, I headed to 'Fishing Village Era' in Cheongcheon.

I enjoyed a full course meal of seasonal sea bass sashimi, conger eel sekkosi, and even shrimp tempura!

Here's my honest review.

Fishing Village Era, Cheongcheon Branch

Address: Daewoo Plaza 104, 105, 34 Sewolcheon-ro, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon

Operating Hours: 13:30 ~ 00:30

Parking: Available in the public parking lot right in front

I was only able to take a picture of the exterior because it was so crowded.

The spacious interior was impressive.

Although the tables weren't widely spaced, it was enough for conversation.

Side Dishes & Self-Serve Bar

The basic side dishes included salad, white kimchi,

peas, and even sea snails!

You can take as much as you want from the self-serve bar.

Personally, I love eating the sea snails as a snack before the main dishes arrive.

Menu

The fish tanks at the entrance were full of fresh fish,

and the menu was just as diverse.

They had a variety of fish like flounder, rockfish, and mullet,

and even three types of sekkosi.

The set menus looked pretty good too.

It seemed like shrimp season was approaching,

as they had fresh shrimp salt-grilled as a seasonal menu item,

and also king prawn cheese-grilled.

Today's Order

Seasonal Sea Bass Sashimi (45,000 KRW)

Conger Eel Sekkosi x 2 (56,000 KRW)

Shrimp Tempura (12,000 KRW)

Buckwheat Crepe (Service)

6 Bottles of Jinro Is Back Soju

2 Bottles of Cass Beer

Drinks are a must with such delicious food...hehe.

Let the Feast Begin!

Seasonal Sea Bass Sashimi

Seasonal Sea Bass Sashimi

This was my first time trying sea bass sashimi.

It had a similar clean taste to flounder or rockfish,

but thanks to the subtle fattiness,

the texture was soft and savory.

It was definitely the best sashimi I've had lately.

Wrapping it in perilla leaves

made the flavors blend together so well.

Adding a piece of white kimchi

created a refreshing and perfect combination.

Conger Eel Sekkosi

Conger Eel Sekkosi

It had a uniquely chewy texture.

But it felt like it had fewer bones than regular sekkosi.

One plate was full of that bouncy texture,

and the more you chewed, the stronger the savory flavor became.

My aunt and I fell in love with it

and devoured two plates in no time!

Shrimp Tempura

Shrimp Tempura

These were quite large shrimp tempura.

It wasn't anything particularly special, but you know how it is?

Everything tastes good fried, but shrimp tastes even better?

Taking a bite revealed a crispy texture and savory shrimp

that blended perfectly in my mouth.

Buckwheat Crepe

Buckwheat Crepe

The buckwheat crepe was a service from the owner!

It tasted even better when eaten fresh out of the kitchen.

I wouldn't intentionally order it, but

it's one of those things that you just keep reaching for!

Spacious and clean interior with a self-serve bar

The savory and clean taste of seasonal sea bass sashimi

The unique texture of conger eel sekkosi

It was my first time trying sea bass sashimi,

but I think I'll be craving it often in the future.

That was my review of 'Fishing Village Era' in Cheongcheon, a great local restaurant!
