A Taste of Local Flavor: Gohyang Milmyeon Main Branch in Gyeongju

During my trip to Gyeongju, I visited Gohyang Milmyeon Main Branch, a restaurant famous among locals.
I heard that Milmyeon (wheat noodles) is a must-try dish in Gyeongju, so I searched for a good place, and as rumored, this place was bustling with customers.
The Mul Milmyeon (wheat noodles in cold broth) with its refreshing broth was perfect for the hot weather, and the Bibim Milmyeon (spicy mixed wheat noodles) with its spicy and sweet sauce was also a special treat.
It was a clean and enjoyable meal, and it seemed to be popular not only with locals but also with tourists.
Let's start my review of Gohyang Milmyeon Main Branch in Hwang O-dong, Gyeongju!

Waiting & Parking
Parking in front of the store is a bit difficult.

It's convenient to use the Gyeongju Jungsim Sangga Public Parking Lot or Bonghwangdae Public Parking Lot!
I used the Jungsim Sangga Public Parking Lot, and the fee was relatively inexpensive.
It's about a 2-3 minute walk from the parking lot to the restaurant.

Store Interior and Menu
They have everything from Mul Milmyeon and Bibim Milmyeon to Yubu On Milmyeon (warm milmyeon with fried tofu)!

They have small and large sizes, but the large size feels like the standard, so I recommend ordering the large.
Vinegar and sauce are already added to the Mul Milmyeon and Bibim Milmyeon, so you can add more according to your preference!
Before the Milmyeon came out, I tried a bowl of the broth, and I immediately thought the On Milmyeon would be delicious too.
They don't sell rice separately, so keep that in mind.
What I ordered:
Mul Milmyeon (Small)
Bibim Milmyeon (Small)
Dumplings

Mul Milmyeon & Bibim Milmyeon Review
It looks ordinary, but I said "Wow!" as soon as I took a bite.

The cucumbers and radish were crunchy, and the sweet and sour, yet deep flavor of the broth was captivating.
The noodles were also chewy and went well with the broth.
The toppings were basic and true to the original style.
It's not too spicy, so it's a flavor that everyone will enjoy.
I just kept drinking the broth!
The sauce is so delicious.
The slightly spicy, sweet, and sour taste you get the moment you take a bite!
The sauce wasn't too strong, so I enjoyed it until the end.
At first, I thought it would be similar to cold noodles (Naengmyeon), but the texture and taste were completely different.
Honestly, I initially thought the dumplings would just be ordinary.

But I was completely surprised by how incredibly chewy they were as soon as I took a bite.
The inside is also moist and full!
I didn't expect much from the side dish, but I was quite satisfied.
The chewiness is exceptional.
Gohyang Milmyeon is the perfect place for a light meal during your Gyeongju trip.
The noodles are chewy, and the sauce isn't too strong, so people of all ages can enjoy it without feeling overwhelmed.
The dumplings were a perfect match, and I left feeling full and satisfied.
If you're looking for a good Milmyeon restaurant in Gyeongju, I recommend Gohyang Milmyeon Main Branch in Hwang O-dong!
