A Taste of Authentic Vietnam in Seoul: Hoang Viet Seongsu Review

Hello, I'm Chunganjee!
Today, I'm sharing my review of Hoang Viet Seongsu, a new Vietnamese restaurant that perfectly recreates the local atmosphere and flavors of Vietnam!
Hoang Viet claims to recreate the authentic taste of Vietnam by using local ingredients and collaborating with local factories and partners.
I'd never heard of Hoang Viet before, but after looking it up, I found out that they have many locations.
I was a little disappointed that I was only now discovering a restaurant that allows you to experience the authentic taste of Vietnamese local food in Korea.
Chunganjee and my partner were curious about a restaurant with a very Vietnamese-style interior that we hadn't noticed before on our usual route.
We added it to our wishlist and finally visited on a Friday evening for dinner.

Chunganjee and my partner visited on a rainy day.
The drizzling rain added to the Southeast Asian vibe! ><
Hoang Viet Seongsu is located in an alley near Ttukseom Station, full of great food options.
The exterior alone will make you feel like you've suddenly been transported to Vietnam, so it's easy to find.
The red and blue exterior, the signs and promotional materials filled with Vietnamese, and even the street food banh mi cart perfectly recreate the local atmosphere! It's fun to explore from the outside.
The interior also has the same local vibe.
The uncovered fan on the wall is so Vietnamese! lol.
But since this is Korea, there's a big air conditioner to keep you cool.
The tables and chairs you'd see in a local restaurant, the Vietnamese promotional materials and leaflets that look like they were torn off from somewhere in Vietnam lol, and even a Grab motorbike helmet! It's so much fun to look around.
I traveled to Vietnam for the first time last year and loved it, and I sometimes miss it.
Coming to Hoang Viet Seongsu, I could feel the local vibe, which was so much fun.
The tables are set with water, napkins, garlic, chili peppers, and Vietnamese sauces.
Even the wet wipes were the same as the ones I saw in Vietnam.
The menu is written in both Vietnamese and Korean.
They have a variety of local food options such as pho, fried rice, morning glory, spring rolls, nem, and bun cha.
Even the promotional materials for the recommended menu are so authentically local! lol.
You can order banh mi for takeout or eat it in the restaurant.
When ordering the pho menu items 1-5, you can choose between rice noodles, bun noodles, or Vietnamese ramen noodles.
Free noodle refills are available when ordering one menu item per person!
Cilantro is provided for free once, and additional servings cost ₩1,000.
The napkin holder on the table has instructions on how to eat banh xeo.
To order, simply write down the quantity on the order sheet and hand it to the staff.
Chunganjee and my partner ordered one beef pho, one Vietnamese chicken noodle soup, one extra serving of cilantro, and one Signature Egg Banh Mi.
The banh mi I've had in Korea has always been disappointing, but the first local banh mi I had in Vietnam was so delicious, so I ordered it out of curiosity to see if Hoang Viet Seongsu could capture the authentic taste.
First, the pho and chicken noodle soup came out!
The visuals, broth, and noodles of the beef pho were just like the local pho I had in Vietnam.
It had the unique texture and spice of authentic Vietnamese pho, but it wasn't greasy and tasted clean and delicious.
I had never tried chicken noodle soup, either in Korea or Vietnam, so I ordered it out of curiosity. It had a clearer broth than the pho, with chicken and both noodles and rice.
I think I had never tried it because I didn't know what it was, but it was more delicious than expected.
I'll definitely have to order chicken noodle soup when I go to Vietnam next time.
It felt like Korean chicken stew because it had rice, and the noodles seemed to be bun noodles. It was unique and delicious.
The Signature Egg Banh Mi we ordered also came out.
When ordering banh mi, they'll ask you how many pieces you want it cut into.
Chunganjee and my partner asked for it to be cut in half so we could try each half.
They also gave us a plate of extra cilantro that we had ordered.
They also gave us plastic gloves to make it easier to eat the banh mi.
It was filled with authentic banh mi ingredients, and it was very big, just like the ones in Vietnam.
Since it was an egg banh mi, it had a lot of eggs, and the sauce was so delicious.
The bread wasn't too hard or chewy, so it was easy to eat and delicious.
I've finally found a place in Korea that has delicious banh mi!
It was too much food to eat one bowl per person plus the banh mi, so I asked for half of the banh mi to be wrapped up to go.
The packaging was also authentic lol. They put it in a blue plastic bag that looked like it came from Vietnam.
This place is really serious about recreating the local experience.
As we were leaving, I noticed a Vietnamese calendar, and Vietnamese broadcasts were playing on the TV lol.
The perfect authenticity, with Vietnamese newspapers hanging at the entrance, was so much fun.
It was fun to look around the restaurant while we ate, and the food was perfect, so we left feeling very satisfied.
If you want to experience authentic Vietnamese local food and atmosphere in Seoul, I recommend Hoang Viet Seongsu!I'll be back with more delicious and fun news from Seongsu soon!
