A Romantic Dinner at Chez Simon: A French Fine Dining Experience (Former Mangwon-dong Location)

Hello, I'm 맛구리!
Today, I'm sharing my experience at Chez Simon, a French fine dining restaurant I visited when it was still located in Mangwon-dong (now in Itaewon), focusing on their dinner course!
Chez Simon was originally a French fine dining spot in Mangwon-dong, famous for its excellent value for money despite being notoriously difficult to book.
I had such a great lunch there once that I completely fell in love and revisited several times for dinner!
Today, I'll reminisce about the dinner course I enjoyed with my husband on our 1,000th-day anniversary.
Please note that Chez Simon has now moved to Itaewon! I plan to visit the new Itaewon location soon.
I'll be back with a detailed comparison review, noting what has changed and whether the taste and service are still as exceptional!
I visited in the winter of 2024!
The Mangwon location was small but had a warm and quiet atmosphere.
We ordered a half bottle of red wine that day, but unfortunately, it wasn't to my taste.
Chez Simon Bread & Salted Butter

Chez Simon's pre-dinner bread...
I love this bread so much....
Especially the butter, it's truly something special!
I think I enjoy the bread the most every time I go.
The pre-dinner bread is refillable! If you're enjoying it, the server will ask if you'd like more.
I resisted to fully enjoy the course.
Amuse-bouche Tartlets

Two types of amuse-bouche with fresh herbal green elements to stimulate the appetite.
The taste is truly unique and fascinating. Chez Simon always surprises me with dishes that exceed my expectations, making dining there a lot of fun!
Cold Starter

Layers of white crumble and vegetables under a transparent red jelly sheet!
It was a refreshing dish with a tangy flavor, not sweet.
The first hot dish was Iberico Steak!!!

Very juicy and cooked to medium-rare! The combination of mushrooms and sauce is especially amazing.
My husband additionally requested bread and butter. He really enjoyed it!
Today's seafood dish was Grilled Sea Bass

Soft and creamy grilled sea bass with a comforting foam and savory base!!!
It simply melts in your mouth... (So delicious, but the portion was too small... )
Even the plating and dishes...
Each one is like a work of art!!!
The grand finale, the Korean Hanwoo 1++ Tenderloin Steak

Chez Simon's steak is truly the best....
Cooked close to rare, it's incredibly tender, and it just disappears in your mouth...
Not a style full of buttery or meaty flavor, but a very clean and tender steak.
Broccolini with mustard seeds for textural play.
Surprisingly, the vegetables have a smoky flavor!!
Ah... each bite is blissful.
To finish, a scoop of cool ice cream with a vanilla cream + sherbet feel.
After the meal, you can order tea or coffee and enjoy it with a financier to conclude your dining experience!
On this day, I had noted our anniversary in advance when making the reservation, and they decorated the dessert so thoughtfully! (Anniversary message can be requested)

My husband was touched...
Overall, it's a dining experience with excellent taste and service!
Reservations are a bit challenging, but
I highly recommend Chez Simon's course to those who want to spend a special occasion with loved ones or experience a French course that isn't too overwhelming!
