A Retro Chicken & Misugaru Delight: Dakdonggari in Icheon

Hello, it's Dakong Mom! :)
I recently visited Dakdonggari, located in Galsan-dong, Icheon!
I've been going to this place since it opened, and today I'm going to introduce you to my favorite menu items.
After a long time, I visited Icheon Dakdonggari with my friend!
These days, the weather is getting cooler, and I've been craving that pocha (street stall) vibe.
Sitting around a blue table under a red tent,
chatting and enjoying chicken under the warm lights...
It was so great.
The entrance of the restaurant has a distinctive pocha feel.
The sound of rain made it even more atmospheric. ☔️
The banner in front of the store displays Dakdonggari's signature menu and fried chicken menu!
I've had the chicken feet set and Paldang squid here before,
so today I came thinking about having chicken!!
There's a notice about the last order at Dakdonggari.
Chicken & fried food orders are closed after 12:30 AM, and only stir-fried dishes can be ordered!
Please note that the operating hours are until 1 AM. 😊
The combination of red tent, blue table, and red chair is really reminiscent of the old days. I snapped a quick photo when there were no customers for a moment. 😊
The menu board and various posters also have a simple, old-fashioned feel. _
✅️ Write a Naver review and get a free bottle of soju or beer!!
Be sure to participate in this generous event!
I tend to go to the bathroom a lot when I drink,
so I really like that the restroom is inside!!!!
Dakdonggari Icheon branch is even better because the women's and men's restrooms are separated. 😊
You can order through the kiosk,
and it's easy to choose because there are photos of various dishes!
My friend and I decided to eat chicken, so we chose chicken~~
We ordered a half-and-half menu of boneless chicken (fried and seasoned) and
newly launched Salgoo (a type of alcohol) as our first order. ㅎㅎ
After ordering, we were served
crisp cabbage salad, pickled radish, and bean sprout soup!
The cabbage salad is topped with mayonnaise and ketchup, which goes perfectly with chicken dishes.
The soup is a flavorful broth with plenty of scallion aroma,
which is perfect for whetting your appetite before eating chicken.
The cabbage salad is a combination that catches the greasiness and enhances the appetite 😊
Ta-da!
What is this kettle for?
It's misugaru (roasted multi-grain powder drink)!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone, be sure to order misugaru at Dakdonggari.
It's really thick and so delicious! 😋😋😋😋😋😋
Misugaru comes in a yellow kettle 😊
It's a really unexpected combination, but it goes so well together!
The savory and sweet misugaru
cleanses the palate after eating greasy chicken.
These days, you rarely get to taste misugaru at pochas,
but at Dakdonggari, I was able to relive that nostalgic flavor. 😊
The chicken that came out was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
As soon as I took a bite, I thought, "What is this sound?" It was so crispy!
The batter is thin and savory, so it's not too heavy,
and the meat inside was moist and full of juice.
An appetizer that calls for alcohol~~~♡
Enjoying crispy chicken and soaking up some alcohol ㅋㅋㅋ
The seasoned chicken tastes like chicken gangjeong (sweet and spicy crispy chicken)!
The sweet and tangy flavor reminded me of the famous Gangwon-do chicken gangjeong?!
There's seasoned chicken and fried chicken,
but personally, I liked eating the fried chicken with salt the best.
The frying oil also felt clean, so it wasn't greasy,
and the crispiness was maintained until the end.
My friend and I were eating without realizing how much time had passed
and wanted some soup, so we ordered udon!
I asked them to make it spicy. ㅎㅎ
The udon broth is so refreshing and delicious,
and the udon noodles are so chewy that they're a great side dish!! (It's good for drinking more soju 😉)
Thanks to the udon, we ordered another soju...??
The owner gave us fried food as a service ㅠㅠ😍😍
Thank you for the special side dish. ㅎㅎㅎ
🥳 A hidden pocha restaurant I found in Icheon
There are many franchise chicken restaurants these days,
but this retro vibe + really crispy chicken + a glass of misugaru
This combination was the unique charm of Dakdonggari.
The interior of the restaurant is clean,
and I enjoyed the meal because the owner was friendly and took care of us~~ It's great for dates,
and it's also a great place to enjoy a light meal with friends after work.
I packed up the leftover chicken, and they packed it up neatly. ㅎㅎ
If you ever come to Icheon, be sure to visit Dakdonggari.
It's a hidden gem that captures the atmosphere, taste, and sensibility.🥳
