A Perfect Meal from Start to Finish at Manya Fisheries in Gangneung

If you're craving a plate of fresh sashimi in Gangneung, you can't miss this spot! Manya Fisheries, located at 451 Changhae-ro, Gangwon-do, came highly recommended by social media reviews and trusted friends. It's conveniently located just a 3-minute walk from Gyeongpo Beach, with parking available right in front. Seeing locals lining up definitely raised our expectations!
The exterior exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, like visiting someone's home. The spacious seating arrangement is perfect for families, couples, and even large groups. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The impeccable cleanliness of the restaurant allowed us to fully enjoy our meal. Taking a moment to appreciate the surrounding scenery while waiting for the side dishes was a delightful experience.
Here, you'll realize that even the basics are extraordinary. The salad was incredibly fresh, providing a burst of refreshing flavor. The chilled raw fish soup (mulhoe) was packed with a generous amount of seafood, instantly banishing the summer heat. The corn cheese featured crispy corn kernels perfectly combined with gooey cheese. The assorted seafood platter offered incredibly fresh abalone, sea squirt, and finely sliced raw fish (sekkosi), while the grilled shrimp had a delightful smoky flavor and juicy texture!

The steamed abalone was a textural masterpiece. The grilled eel donburi (덮밥) offered a subtle smoky aroma and a perfectly balanced sauce. The generously filled futomaki was packed with fresh ingredients, and the seaweed was top-notch. The tender medium-rare sous vide steak and the crispy fried shrimp with creamy sauce were a fantastic combination. The egg noodles were savory and served piping hot, showing their attention to detail. The braised cutlassfish was flaky, perfectly seasoned, and conveniently deboned.

When the main sashimi platter arrived, its artful presentation on a bed of shredded radish immediately caught our eye. Wrapping the sashimi with the radish helped cut through any greasiness and created an explosion of texture and flavor in your mouth. The fact that they don't reuse any side dishes ensures a fresh and trustworthy dining experience! It was so amazing I wanted to show you unedited video!

Overall, the variety and quality of the side dishes were just as impressive as the sashimi itself, with each dish playing a starring role. It's easy to see why there's always a line. With this level of service at this price, you'll definitely want to come back. If you're visiting Gangneung, Manya Fisheries is a must-visit!
