A Memorable Dining Experience at Halmi Sot in Danyang

Hello,
This is TaeTaeMom.
When traveling, while famous tourist spots are nice, what truly leaves a lasting memory is often a delicious meal.
During my recent trip to Danyang, I sought out a place for dinner after checking into our accommodation.
It was a place where we couldn't help but marvel at the food and exclaimed, "Let's come back here!" as we left.
It was the first place where Taei gave a thumbs up.
That place is Halmi Sot, a local gem in Danyang.
These days, there are many trendy restaurants on social media and advertised spots, but not many are worth revisiting.
However, I can confidently say that Halmi Sot is different.
"If I go to Danyang, I will definitely come back here."
So today, I want to share my review of Halmi Sot, a true local restaurant discovered during my Danyang trip.
Location and Parking
Halmi Sot is conveniently located near downtown Danyang, making it easy to find.
You can use the nearby public parking lot, which has ample space for comfortable parking.
Especially during trips to Danyang, parking can sometimes be stressful.
But Halmi Sot's accessibility makes it very convenient to visit.
It is a great local restaurant for travelers.
The restaurant exudes a local vibe from the outside.
Even from a distance, Halmi Sot attracts a steady stream of visitors.
While it may not be flashy, the warm atmosphere is inviting.
The sight of the grilling process visible from outside was impressive!
It made me think, "Ah, this is a real local restaurant." My anticipation grew before even stepping inside.
Interior Atmosphere
The inside was surprisingly spacious.
What I appreciated most was the availability of a private room!
This would be a great place for family trips, gatherings, or company dinners.
It was well-maintained, making it comfortable to visit with children.
TaeYang sat comfortably, and Taei quickly adapted.
Halmi Sot truly satisfied as a family dining venue.
Grilled Pork Belly, Neck Meat, and Pork Jowl
When the ordered meats arrived, the visuals were stunning.
The biggest advantage of Halmi Sot is that they serve pre-grilled meat!
This ensures that the juices are retained, and the outside is perfectly grilled.
The pork belly was savory and chewy, while the neck meat was tender and juicy.
The jowl exploded with flavor the more you chewed.
Even TaeYang, who usually has a poor appetite, managed to finish a whole serving here.
Even Taei gave a thumbs up!
When a 20-month-old Taei keeps asking for more, it truly confirms Halmi Sot as a local gem.
Service at Halmi Sot
One part that really impressed me was that the staff grill the meat until it’s fully cooked.
Dining out with kids can be hectic with grilling, serving, and feeding.
But at Halmi Sot, they take care of everything:
- Grilling the meat
- Flipping it
- Cutting it into bite-sized pieces
- Giving tips on how to enjoy it
With everything taken care of, we could just relax and enjoy our meal.
As a parent, this is truly the best!
Fresh Greens from the Garden
The greens were incredibly fresh!
They have a system where you can pick them straight from the garden.
The freshness was evident with the first bite, and the crunch was delightful.
Eating them with the meat enhanced the flavors significantly.
Halmi Sot truly uses high-quality ingredients.
Spicy Mixed Noodles are a Must-Order
This is a strong recommendation from TaeTaeMom.
You must try the spicy mixed noodles.
They are a must!
The sweet and sour sauce combined with bouncy noodles is fantastic.
Adding a piece of meat makes it even better.
Now I understand why everyone orders the mixed noodles.
When you visit Halmi Sot, the mixed noodles are essential.
The rustic soybean paste stew is another highlight.
If a meat restaurant has a good soybean paste stew, it's a sign of quality.
Halmi Sot's stew tasted like it was made by grandma, with a warm, rustic flavor.
Rich and deep, I finished a whole bowl of rice with it.
TaeTaeMom enjoyed the stew by mixing it with rice.
Perfect Bibimbap
Finally, we ordered bibimbap.
If you don’t have bibimbap, did you even eat here?
The spiciness of the kimchi and the aroma of sesame oil blended beautifully.
After enjoying the meat, soybean paste stew, and bibimbap, I felt like I could burst, yet my chopsticks kept moving.
Perfect Kindness
While taste is important, kindness is equally significant to me.
The owner and staff at Halmi Sot were incredibly friendly.
They took care of the kids and frequently checked if we needed anything.
Thanks to them, we had a pleasant dining experience.
