A Late-Night Seafood Feast at Maknae Raw Fish Restaurant in Namdaemun Market

Hello! It's been a while since I've posted a Mukbang diary on my blog.
I have so many places to share that I've visited, so I should start writing again...
I took a one-night summer vacation in Euljiro and visited the National Museum of Korea.
Before heading home, I made a final stop at Maknae Raw Fish Restaurant!
I previously visited the Jongno branch and was impressed by the shrimp and thick slices of raw fish.
This time, I contacted the main branch near Hoehyeon Station almost right before closing and paid a visit!
It was almost closing time, so there weren't many people.
Maknae Raw Fish Restaurant is located in Namdaemun Market near Hoehyeon Station.
It has a charming, old-fashioned vibe.
This restaurant has been a Namdaemun Market staple for 58 years, serving fresh and thick slices of flounder.
When you sit down, you're served potato salad, braised mackerel, and stir-fried squid as side dishes, and the portions are very generous.
I especially love the potato salad. It's sweet and spicy, which is very appealing. So sweet! Perfect as a snack with drinks.
Mackerel and radish stew. I think the radish will be delicious if I come in the fall.
I think we ordered a medium-sized flounder and rockfish combo for the two of us!
The raw fish is thick, chewy, and fresh!
It was so delicious with the tasty side dishes that the drinks went down very smoothly.
And the stir-fried squid, which is served as a side dish, is quite generous.
I want to learn the secret to the sauce...
It's a taste that will make you want to eat a bowl of rice when you're hungry.
They also serve a spicy fish stew. It feels like visiting your grandmother in the countryside. They keep giving you something!
You can easily finish a bottle of soju with just the side dishes.
We ordered flounder and rockfish, and this is how much we got!
A full table at 9 PM!
Closing time is 10 PM, so we came almost at the last minute, but we were able to come in because a table next to us was still eating. I was lucky that day~
Maybe it was just me, but the flounder and rockfish tasted better than at the Jongno branch.
I prefer softer, aged raw fish, and my friend likes chewy raw fish, but Maknae Raw Fish Restaurant near Hoehyeon is closer to the chewy side. It's chewy but not tough and fresh, so it suited my taste.
We were about to get up after drinking soju and beer...
When the owner gave us live octopus...
We were going to finish, but we ordered another bottle of soju...
The live octopus was savory and fresh, making it a great high-protein snack with drinks. We ended up emptying another bottle of soju that we hadn't planned on.
Be careful on the stairs at Maknae Raw Fish Restaurant!
The stairs are very steep, so you have to be careful when you drink!
I will definitely be thinking about this place! I highly recommend Maknae Raw Fish Restaurant in Hoehyeon Namdaemun if you are looking for a hip and cozy old restaurant with reasonable prices and delicious fish.
The owner is friendly, and the cozy atmosphere that you can only feel in an old restaurant added to the taste.
I think word got around because a foreigner came in alone and took out some flounder! He was here on a business trip to Korea and wanted to eat alone, so he took out the food! Amazing!
