Is there a more perfect place to enjoy a hearty and delicious lunch with my mother than this satisfying spot? Moments like these become cherished memories that contribute to our happiness.

At Obong House near Gwangmyeong Station, the beautifully presented and generous dishes, along with the cozy ambiance, made me feel like I was being treated throughout the meal.

Moreover, there were plenty of dishes that my mother loved, allowing us to enjoy a variety of flavors. The restaurant was impeccably clean and offered a depth of taste that made me smile throughout our time there.

Located at 4 IDS Tower, Sin-gil 17-gil, Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, Obong House boasts excellent accessibility via public transportation or on foot, being very close to the train station. It’s also a great spot for a date, with shopping facilities nearby for a light stroll before or after the meal. With Costco just across the street, it’s perfect for a family meal after grocery shopping on weekends.

Parking is no concern here, as there is ample and secure parking space within the building. Upon arrival, the lack of parking stress instantly made me feel at ease. You can also receive a parking voucher when you settle the bill.

The restaurant’s exterior features a neat and stylish sign that exudes both warmth and a trendy vibe. The well-organized entrance instills confidence in the cleanliness and care of the establishment, which my mother appreciated as well.

With a 38-year tradition, I expected the food to reflect genuine craftsmanship. Arriving just as the restaurant opened at 11 AM, we were informed we were the first customers of the day.

Inside, the space is much more spacious and pleasant than it appears from the outside, with comfortable table spacing for a relaxed dining experience. The entire restaurant is impeccably clean, making it a reassuring choice for those sensitive to hygiene. The warm lighting created a cozy atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a leisurely lunch and engaging in heartfelt conversations.

For our meal, we ordered the popular Obong House Special Menu, which includes grilled octopus, bossam, and cold buckwheat noodles. The set was more than sufficient for two people. The basic side dishes, including young radish kimchi, white kimchi, and pickled perilla leaves, were all delicious and universally appealing.

As we sampled the side dishes, they perfectly complemented the stir-fried octopus. The main dishes arrived beautifully arranged on a large platter, captivating us from the moment we laid eyes on them.

The cold buckwheat noodles were so enticing that I couldn't help but keep reaching for them. Mixing them with my hands while wearing plastic gloves made for a delightful experience. Wrapping the sweet and tangy noodles around the bossam made for a fantastic combination that was hard to resist.

The bossam was tender and free of any unpleasant odors, melting in my mouth with its exquisite texture. The grilled octopus was exceptionally plump and flavorful, offering a delightful chewiness that impressed both my mother and me.

Mixing the stir-fried octopus with rice, seaweed flakes, and bean sprouts, drizzled with sesame oil, was a culinary highlight. A bowl of rice is available for an additional fee, served in a generous bowl that I highly recommend mixing with the dishes.

For those who may not handle spicy food well, the spice level of the stir-fried octopus can be adjusted. There's also a self-serve bar for extra side dishes and fresh vegetables, allowing guests to enjoy as much as they like.

As a special summer event, Obong House is offering a free sweet rice drink to the first customers. I was fortunate enough to receive one, which was refreshing on my way home.

Additionally, making a reservation through Naver grants you a complimentary serving of seasoned fish roe! Such benefits are not to be missed.

Here are some images capturing the delightful experience:
