Recently, I visited a meat restaurant in Sangnam-dong, Changwon, as I was craving good quality meat. With rising dining costs, I tend to choose restaurants carefully, and this place had many positive reviews regarding its value for money.

The restaurant prepares its own meat, which naturally boosts confidence in its freshness. I ended up having a very satisfying meal.

1. Directions to Gumseong Salt House

The restaurant is about a 5-minute drive from Changwon City Hall, conveniently located in the bustling area of Sangnam-dong. Its exterior features red bricks with a large menu displayed, making it easy to find for first-time visitors.

Upon entering, I was greeted by appetizing photos of meat, particularly the impressive visuals of the beef skirt steak, which heightened my expectations. There was also a sign indicating that they process their own meat, further assuring me of its freshness.

The interior has a spacious layout between tables, allowing for a comfortable dining experience. A self-service bar is available for side dishes, which I found quite satisfying.

The menu offered a balanced selection of beef and pork options.

We ordered the grilled skirt steak for 29,500 won and the 3mm pork belly for 27,500 won to enjoy a variety of flavors. After placing our order, the side dishes were served neatly, and their clean and non-spicy arrangement made them easy to enjoy.

One standout was the wasabi mushroom sauce, which enhanced the meat's flavor with its sharp wasabi aroma and umami taste. The mushroom's texture added a delightful element beyond just a simple sauce.

2. Variety of Meat Sauces

Chimichurri sauce was also provided, balancing the meat's richness with a subtle herb aroma. This combination allowed for a unique flavor experience.

Another interesting aspect was the sushi rice served alongside, allowing us to enjoy the meat as bite-sized sushi, which added fun to the meal.

We started grilling the skirt steak, and its sweet aroma wafting from the grill was quite appetizing. The outer layer cooked lightly, intensifying its flavor.

Taking a bite, the juiciness spread smoothly in my mouth, showcasing the meat's deep flavor. The balance of fat and lean meat was just right, providing satisfaction without being overwhelming.

Next, we grilled the 3mm pork belly, which was sliced much thinner than regular pork belly, allowing it to cook quickly and crisp nicely.

Despite its thinness, the quality of the meat was excellent, releasing a rich flavor without any greasiness.

The sight of the meat cooking quickly on the grill was also appetizing, as the edges crisped up beautifully.

3. Rich Flavor in Every Bite

Eating several pieces at once, I was quite pleased with the restaurant's offerings. The clean taste without any off-flavors made it a dish I wanted to keep enjoying.

Placing the pork belly on the sushi rice and taking a bite revealed a surprisingly harmonious combination. The richness of the meat paired well with the lightness of the rice, creating a balanced flavor.

Dipping it in chimichurri added another layer of appeal, as the fresh acidity cleaned the palate nicely, leaving a lingering taste.

We also ordered the pork skin, which was just the right thickness for a satisfying chew and looked neatly prepared.

Grilled over charcoal, the outer layer became chewy while the inside remained moist, providing a delightful texture. The richness intensified with every bite.

4. Side Dishes: Bibim Naengmyeon

To finish off the meal, we ordered bibim naengmyeon, which had a perfectly balanced seasoning that was moderately spicy, making it enjoyable without being overwhelming. The noodles were chewy and had great texture.

Mixing it all together, the combination of sourness and spiciness was just right, refreshing my palate. The crunchiness of the cucumber was a nice touch.

The cold naengmyeon was served in a refreshing broth filled with ice, perfect for cooling down. Taking a sip felt cleansing.

Its slightly spicy broth left a lasting impression, ensuring it was not bland.

The seafood sundubu jjigae had a notable broth flavor, combining the freshness from the seafood with the fragrant minari, resulting in a clean taste.

With plenty of sundubu and seafood, it was hearty and satisfying, and the spicy broth felt comforting.

Lastly, the jjapaguri was surprisingly well-prepared, with the noodles cooked just right, maintaining their chewiness.

The sauce coated the noodles evenly, maintaining flavor balance until the last bite, making it a perfect finishing dish after enjoying the meat. Overall, the meal at the Changwon Sangnam-dong meat restaurant was highly satisfying for its price, and I could definitely feel the freshness of the meat. The variety of menu options and the inviting atmosphere make me eager to return.
