A Delightful Day at Namdaemun Market: Kids' Clothes Shopping and Spicy Braised Cutlassfish!

It had been a while since I last visited Namdaemun Market, and this time I went to browse the children's clothing.
Namdaemun is famous for its kids' clothes, but you can't forget about the *kal-guksu* (noodle soup) alley and the *galchi-jorim* (braised cutlassfish) alley either!
After some happy deliberation, I decided on *galchi-jorim* and grilled fish for lunch today. I headed to Heuirak Galchi in the market alley.
Heuirak Galchi
⏰ Hours: 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM
❌ Closed every Sunday
???? Restrooms: Public restrooms available outside the restaurant
✔️ Visited at 10:30 AM
After dropping off my son, Bam-yong, at school, I arrived around 10:30 AM with plenty of time.
Just as we walked in, the first floor quickly filled up.
When we left, there was already a long line of people waiting! ????
There's definitely a reason why popular restaurants are so famous!
I even had a little bit of day drinking… It was such a happy early lunch ㅎㅎ
A cool glass of *Somaek* (soju and beer) is truly healing ????
???? Our Order
* Braised Cutlassfish (for 2)
* Grilled Mackerel (for 1)
When you order food, steamed egg is served as a side dish along with other basic side dishes.
And fried cutlassfish tails are served too!
These fried tails are a real treat – so crispy and savory ????
Dried seaweed is also served.
Put some rice, cutlassfish, and a little bit of sauce on the seaweed and wrap it up – that's the taste of the market ????
The radish was especially well-braised,
Salty and a rice thief!
I ate almost all of the radish that dayㅎㅎ
It's no secret that I finished a whole bowl of rice.
The grilled mackerel was also plump and delicious.
It was perfect and tasty.
However, it got a slightly fishy smell after cooling down, but it wasn't too bothersome, so I finished it cleanly!
Feeling full and satisfied, I enjoyed browsing the children's clothing.
I was so happy to get Bam-yong's outfit!
☕ Disappointing Ending
I originally wanted to visit Cafe Gavedo in Namdaemun Market, but
I couldn't get in because there were no seats availableㅠㅠ
I'll definitely go next time.
I recommend the Namdaemun *galchi-jorim* + children's clothing shopping combination for a precious daytime outing for moms ❤️
