A Delightful Culinary Journey at Cheonggwang Pottery Garden in Boseong

Hello, I'm Eun-kkung!
I fell in love with the braised spicy chicken stew (Dakdoritang) and revisited Cheonggwang Pottery Garden, a renowned restaurant in Boseong, with my grandmother.
This is my honest, personal review of the Green Tea Set Menu!

Cheonggwang Pottery Garden is a popular traditional Korean cuisine restaurant, loved by both tourists and locals.
It has a spacious parking lot, making it easy to park even with group reservations!
Located before Botjae (Boseong Tea Plantation), it's a must-visit course for Boseong travelers, perfect for enjoying a meal before heading to the green tea fields or Yulpo Beach.
Cheonggwang Pottery Garden has a spacious hall and many private rooms, making it a popular choice for family gatherings.
I visited on a weekend lunch and it was packed with group reservations ranging from 8 to 17 people. I almost had to wait!
As the name 'Cheonggwang Pottery Garden' suggests, there are potteries displayed throughout the restaurant, which was fascinating!
The view from the window is also lovely, and sitting in the hall gives you a refreshing, open feeling.
One of the advantages I noticed was the excellent teamwork between the owner and the staff!
This is an important place to bring guests, and the team is so kind, and attentive to your needs!
The way they showed consideration and communicated with each other made it feel like they've been working together for a long time, which was great.
Here is the menu and prices for Cheonggwang Pottery Garden:
1) Cheonggwang Set Menu: ₩20,000 per person
Main: Tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), rice, Doenjang-guk (soybean paste stew)
2) Green Tea Set Menu: ₩25,000 per person
Main: Tteokgalbi, Borigulbi (dried yellow corvina soaked in barley water), green tea water, Dolsotbap (stone pot rice)
3) Special Green Tea Set Menu: ₩30,000 per person
Main: Green Tea Set + Boiled Cockles
Please note the differences in each menu!
The last time I visited, I ate the braised spicy chicken stew (Dakdoritang) (₩75,000 for 3-4 people)
It's made with native chicken, so the size is really big, and it's a real whole chicken, including the neck and feet!
The chicken wasn't tough in the spicy and sweet broth, and it was well seasoned and delicious.
We ordered 3 Green Tea Set Menus, priced at ₩25,000 each.
I wondered if we should order the Cheonggwang Set Menu, but thought the price difference was worth trying the Green Tea Set Menu.
As expected of Boseong, the home of green tea, even the water is green tea!
Sweet pumpkin porridge was served as an appetizer, and it was warm, soft, and delicious, so I was really looking forward to the main menu!

They served the side dishes first, and I already give them a thumbs up for the visuals.
Shishito pepper salad, white kimchi, radish pickles, salad, bamboo shoot salad, Gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), and cabbage kimchi.
I felt like I could eat a bowl of rice with just these side dishes!
The second set of side dishes included green tea jelly, seasoned skate, and Tangpyeongchae (mung bean jelly salad).
I fell in love with the colors and plating, which were full of Korean beauty.

They set the table to match the overall harmony and colors, so don't move the dishes around!
When the Dolsot rice (stone pot rice) with green tea leaves is served, you can truly feel the pride of Southern cuisine.
Freshly made pancakes, eggplant fries, and Japchae (glass noodles with stir-fried vegetables) look delicious already!
The food at Cheonggwang Pottery Garden is all neat and clean, not too spicy, and a delicious traditional Korean cuisine restaurant that brings out the natural flavors of the ingredients!
This is the green tea Tteokgalbi, the main dish of the Cheonggwang Set Menu.

The texture is great and it's not too sweet, so it's a Tteokgalbi that everyone enjoys.
Put a big piece of Tteokgalbi on top of the chewy Dolsot rice and eat it, then add some kimchi - it's fantastic!
Borigulbi (dried yellow corvina soaked in barley water) has a unique fermented smell that some people may dislike, depending on the restaurant.
But the Borigulbi at Cheonggwang Pottery Garden in Boseong was moist and delicious.

Putting Borigulbi on top of cool green tea water gives you a refreshing feeling that washes away the heat.
The Green Tea Set Menu includes Borigulbi and green tea water, so there's no warm soup.
Some adults may ask if there's any soup, but the other side dishes are so delicious and wonderful that I was satisfied without even thinking about it.

Japchae (glass noodles with stir-fried vegetables) is difficult to make with transparent noodles and seasoning.
But this vegetable Japchae was perfectly seasoned and great for enjoying a light meal.
It wasn't sticky or greasy, but clean and delicious.
The combination of crispy fried eggplant and sweet and sour black vinegar sauce is a real delicacy!

It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the sauce is the key, so even eggplant haters can enjoy it!
(It's no secret that I scraped the bottom of the sauce clean.)
You can't miss seasoned skate in Jeolla-do traditional Korean cuisine.
The unique fermented smell of skate isn't too strong, and the seasoning is so delicious that you can feel it's amazing even if you only pick up the vegetables.

I don't really like tofu that much, but I was tempted by the visuals and ended up eating this colorful tofu Tangpyeongchae (mung bean jelly salad).
They made egg garnishes with egg whites and yolks, and added color with carrots, chives, and shiitake mushrooms, then seasoned it with a subtle soy sauce seasoning, making it luxurious.

It's not fake jelly that crumbles when you pick it up with chopsticks, but real jelly with a great, firm texture, and it's even green tea jelly.
The slightly bitter taste of green tea actually whets your appetite.

The atmosphere, visuals, taste, and kindness are all perfect, so I definitely want to revisit and recommend Cheonggwang Pottery Garden.

That's all for my review of Cheonggwang Pottery Garden!
