A Delicious Winter Feast: Giant Yellowtail and Oysters at Gimpo Daebang-eo

It seems like everyone is talking about how delicious the giant yellowtail (daebang-eo) is this year!
My friend and I had been planning a trip to eat daebang-eo for weeks, and we finally made it to Gimpo Daebang-eo, a restaurant famous for this seasonal delicacy.
I had heard that 'Gimpo Daebang-eo Daeha-gui' was a popular spot with long waits, and now I understand why!
I'm excited to share my review of the incredibly satisfying set menu, which included giant yellowtail, steamed oysters, raw oysters, and fried oysters.
Restaurant Information
Name: Gimpo Daebang-eo Daeha-gui
Address: 31-1 Yangdoro 19beon-gil, Sangga-dong 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do
Hours: 13:00-24:00 (Last Order 23:00)
1. The Magnificent Giant Yellowtail Set
We ordered the 'Giant Yellowtail Set' without hesitation!
We got the set for two people (99,000 won), and the variety was amazing.
It included giant yellowtail, steamed oysters, 4 pieces of fried oysters, 4 raw oysters, and even ingredients for making your own sushi. Could anyone be disappointed with this spread?
I was immediately impressed with the plating.
The sashimi was arranged like flowers on a plate, and you could see how fresh it was.
Just look at that thickness!
It melted in my mouth – that's exactly what I would use to describe it.
The more I chewed, the more savory, oily flavor filled my mouth, with absolutely no fishy taste.
It was delicious dipped in a little bit of gochujang (Korean chili paste) or wrapped in the provided seaweed or white kimchi!
2. The Irresistible Charm of the Oyster Side Dishes
Eating only giant yellowtail might be a little boring, but the side dishes in this set really shine!
Especially the steamed oysters!
As soon as we opened the lid, a fragrant aroma of the sea wafted up with the steam. It was wonderful.
The oysters were quite large, and the texture was incredibly bouncy when I popped one into my mouth.
Warm oysters on a chilly day – what a thoughtful combination!
And they even served fried oysters and raw oysters! I was so touched by the owner's generosity. (I wondered if they were even making a profit…)
The fried oysters were perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside! They tasted freshly fried, without any sogginess, so I kept reaching for them.
Freshness is key for raw oysters, and the raw oysters at Gimpo Daebang-eo were wonderfully briny and refreshing!
My friend and I were jokingly trying to grab the best pieces first.
I put some giant yellowtail on top of the sushi rice, added a dab of wasabi, and wow, I felt like a sushi expert!
The rice was seasoned perfectly, enhancing the flavor of the fish rather than overpowering it.
Since we could enjoy such a variety of dishes, we never got tired of eating.
It seems like a great place for picky eaters!
3. A Pleasant and Lively Atmosphere: The Wait Was Worth It
To be honest, I was a little worried about the wait, but luckily, we didn't have to wait too long.
I think it's because the daebang-eo season had just started.
Which means it'll probably be packed soon...ㅠ
But after eating here, I understand why people line up!
We don't usually eat that much, you know?
But we cleaned our plates, leaving not a single piece, and said at the same time, 'Ah, this is so good.' Getting such a fresh and generous daebang-eo set at this price is really a great value!
The thick slices of yellowtail were especially addictive because of their chewy texture and savory flavor.
I had always felt that the daebang-eo I ate at other places was somehow lacking, but here, I could feel the care that went into each side dish, and the freshness of the main dish, the daebang-eo, was beyond compare!
Now I understand why people go out of their way to line up and eat here...
It's worth the wait, everyone!
Gimpo Daebang-eo is worth the wait.
My friend and I both gave this Gimpo daebang-eo restaurant a perfect score!
We ate so much that we both passed out when we got home...lol
My friend and I promised to come back again, and next time, we're going to bring other friends and try the salmon, flounder, and other dishes!
Winter is shorter than you think, so we have to make the most of it.
I highly recommend this place, especially for year-end gatherings, friends, or dates. It's sure to please everyone.
It's a great place to take someone if you want to be praised!
My picky palate, which doesn't tolerate bad food, has given it a thumbs up, so why don't you trust me and visit this Gimpo daebang-eo restaurant?
You definitely won't regret it!
