Tobogetsee Tteokbokki in Hongdae is a popular restaurant, so there's usually a bit of a wait because the inside is somewhat small.
I think you can sign up for the waiting list through Catch Table, but you can also sign up in front of the store.
Luckily, I visited on a Friday at lunchtime, so it wasn't too crowded!
Tobogetsee Tteokbokki in Hongdae is located in an alley, so make sure to find your way there.
The store is colorful, so it should be easy to spot!
Here's what the inside of Tobogetsee Tteokbokki Smile Boy branch looks like.
There were instructions on how to enjoy tteokbokki and fried rice, and photos of various menu items.
Inside Tobogetsee Tteokbokki Smile Boy branch, there were several 2-person and 4-person tables.
Maybe around 7-8 tables? You have to time your visit well.
I almost had to wait too!
Tada! Finally, the tteokbokki is here.
I ordered the tteokbokki for two people, and didn't add any extra toppings.
It comes with a generous amount of basic toppings like rice cakes, fish cakes, chewy noodles, ramen noodles, sesame leaves, and cabbage.
I even made a bubbling tteokbokki GIF!
Ta-da!
Here's the highlight of Tobogetsee Tteokbokki: Butter Garlic Fries!
Seriously, this is the best part. It might even be better than the tteokbokki.
As far as I know, Tobogetsee Tteokbokki's Butter Garlic Fries are the original, even before Chungnyeon Dabang's, is that right?
Anyway, it's really delicious! Make sure to order it.
I don't usually like a lot of sauce on my fries,
But this place puts a ton of sauce on them.
People who like a lot of sauce will really love it.
I also took a picture of the tteokbokki and fries together!
When I first tried the tteokbokki, the rice cakes, fish cakes, and toppings didn't seem to have absorbed the flavor, so they didn't taste like anything.
I wondered what was going on and just kept eating, but after it cooled down a bit, the flavor absorbed and it became delicious.
I should have let it cool down a little more!
And now, the highlight: Flying Fish Roe Fried Rice.
Tobogetsee Tteokbokki's fried rice is incredibly delicious.
You can order bacon, flying fish roe, dried squid, or sausage fried rice.
I ordered the flying fish roe fried rice.
It was an excellent choice.
It was so delicious!!! The fried rice sauce tasted a bit like gochujang bulgogi and was very tasty.
It was very delicious! I want to eat it again!!
Since I'm a pig who can't eat without soda,
I ate it with Fanta Zero Pineapple.
