A Delicious Duck Feast at Cheongmirae: A Must-Visit Restaurant Near Sudeoksa Temple

Recently, my family and I visited Sudeoksa Temple and stumbled upon a fantastic restaurant called Cheongmirae in Sapgyo, Yesan, known for its amazing *baeksuk* (Korean traditional soup) .

Cheongmirae
Address: 114-28 Deoksanhyanggyo-gil, Deoksan-myeon, Yesan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do
Hours: 10:00 AM - 11:00 PM Daily
1. Location: Near Sudeoksa Temple
Cheongmirae is about a 9-minute drive from Sudeoksa Temple. Parking is ample, making it easy to visit. They're open every day from 10 AM to 11 PM.
2. Atmosphere
The interior is clean and requires you to remove your shoes before entering.
Upon being seated, I noticed a banner highlighting the benefits of lacquer tree. It mentioned its purported effects on diabetes, heart disease, and skin conditions.
There was also a banner showcasing their appearance on a TV program, which happened to be "Vivid Information," a show my family watches regularly!
3. Menu
They offer a variety of dishes, including *baeksuk* with nutritious rice, spicy braised chicken, and duck stir-fry. We ordered the *baeksuk* with nutritious rice. The spicy braised chicken and duck stir-fry looked delicious, but since the weather has suddenly turned colder, my family and I were craving soup. We decided to try those next time.
The self-service bar is located right in front of the kitchen, where you can grab as much of the side dishes as you need.
4. The Food
This is the spread of *baeksuk* with nutritious rice at Cheongmirae in Sapgyo, Yesan. Since the *baeksuk* requires an hour's preparation time, we called ahead while exploring Sudeoksa Temple. As soon as we arrived, the food was promptly served. The side dishes were rustic and neatly presented, all prepared and seasoned directly in the kitchen.
Side Dishes
The aged cucumber salad had a delightful crunchy texture.

I always enjoy pickled onions with meat, and this one included radish, onions, and peppers, offering a crisp and sweet-and-salty flavor.
The *kkakdugi* (radish kimchi) wasn't too fishy and had a satisfying crunch. The radish was well-infused with the kimchi broth, making it a perfect complement to the *baeksuk*.
The dried anchovy and chili pepper stir-fry included anchovies, garlic, and peppers, offering a savory taste.
*Baeksuk* with Nutritious Rice
*Baeksuk* with nutritious rice is prepared with over twenty medicinal herbs and a broth simmered with care all day long. It's served with a generous amount of nutritious rice and chives.
First, I scooped out the nutritious rice and then prepared the duck for easier eating.

We ate the chives as soon as they were lightly cooked to prevent them from becoming tough. Each spoonful of the broth revealed a deeper flavor, and I understood why this place is a local favorite.
The duck meat had a savory and nutty flavor that was truly outstanding.
Nutritious Rice
After eating the meat, we added the nutritious rice to the remaining broth and simmered it to make a porridge. The mung beans in the rice made it incredibly savory.

Even though I was full, the porridge was so easy to eat that I finished it all!
5. Overall Review
Cheongmirae is a fantastic restaurant in Yesan where you can enjoy delicious *baeksuk* with chicken or duck.
The portions are generous, and the meat is so tender that it's simply amazing. If you're visiting Sudeoksa Temple or Yedang Lake on a chilly day, I highly recommend trying their warm *baeksuk* with nutritious rice!
