A Delicious Changwon Group Dinner Spot: Odon Restaurant Review

While searching for a good restaurant, I stumbled upon a place in the neighborhood famous for group dinners in Changwon, so I decided to check it out. After reading a few reviews and looking at the menu photos and prices, it seemed like a good value for the money.
1. Parking Information
Luckily, there was a parking lot right next door. However, it wasn't owned by the restaurant, so it wasn't completely free; they only offered one hour of free parking.
I visited at the rather odd time of 3 PM, so it felt like I had the whole place to myself!
The interior was clean, and the staff greeted me kindly, which immediately put me in a good mood.
2. Private Dining Rooms
Inside, there were also private dining rooms, which made it clear why this place is popular for company dinners. Apparently, many people make reservations for gatherings in the evening. You can find this out with a quick search!
Before visiting, I read that this place is famous for its generous side dishes. Everyone raved about them, and after trying them myself, I understood why. The quality of the side dishes was so good that it was hard to believe they were just complimentary.
Although I don't usually like chives, the chives pancake here had a spicy kick from the chili peppers, which I really enjoyed. The edges were crispy, and I almost wanted to eat just that part.
But surprisingly, my favorite was the perilla seed salad. The nutty flavor and unique aroma of the perilla seeds were addictive.
Waiting for the meat to cook while trying each side dish was fun. Odon makes all their side dishes themselves, so they were flavorful and went well with drinks. I could see how having a company dinner at a place like this could actually be enjoyable.
The 'gongchae' (stem lettuce) was also fresh and tasty.
3. Favorite Side Dish
The acorn jelly salad was full of chewy acorn jelly and had a refreshing, tangy flavor that was great for cleansing the palate.
The chives pancake was loaded with chives and tasted like it was made to be eaten with 'makgeolli' (Korean rice wine). The savory chives and occasional bits of squid were addictive, so I ordered it again. You have to order the chives pancake and steamed egg separately if you want more, but they were only 1,000 won each, so it wasn't a burden!
I diligently ate the meat with pickled myrtle leaves and 'pa-kimchi' (scallion kimchi). While pickled myrtle leaves are common, not many Korean BBQ places serve 'pa-kimchi', so I was thrilled and refilled it several times.
I also enjoyed the thinly sliced onions marinated in soy sauce, which were crunchy and flavorful. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal.
4. Jinju-style Cold Noodles
I ordered the 'yukjeon bibim naengmyeon' (cold noodles with sliced beef) from the meal menu. The savory flavor of the 'yukjeon' (thinly sliced and pan-fried beef) and the mild sauce were a perfect combination.
There was plenty of 'yukjeon' on top, so I didn't feel like I was missing out. Most importantly, the sauce wasn't too spicy; it had a delicious level of spiciness that even people who don't handle spice well could enjoy. From start to finish, the staff were friendly, so there's no reason not to visit again.
