A Delicious and Abundant Korean Meal in Damyang: Damyang Galbi Changgo
6-17, Metaprovence 2-gil, Damyang-eup, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do

Damyang Baekban Restaurant, Abundant Table, Damyang Korean Restaurant
Last weekend, I visited Damyang to see my longtime friend and was introduced to a truly great restaurant. I was so impressed by the carefully prepared spread of local ingredients, including Korean beef short rib patties (tteokgalbi), that I had to share this Damyang baekban (Korean set meal) restaurant.
1. Location Information for Damyang Baekban Restaurant
Address: 6-17, Metaprovence 2-gil, Damyang-eup, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, Republic of Korea
Room 101, Building 201
Operating Hours: Daily 11:00 - 21:00 (Last Order 20:00)
The restaurant I visited was located right next to Damyang Metaprovence. The ambiance was reminiscent of a city in Provence, France, making it perfect for a pleasant tour after the meal.
There was plenty of parking space available in the dedicated lot, so parking was not an issue at all. The operating hours are from 11:00 to 21:00 daily, with the last order at 20:00, so please keep that in mind.
2. Inside the Damyang Baekban Restaurant
The interior of the restaurant was similar to what I expected from the outside, and the spacious hall was impressive. The high ceilings and widely spaced tables made for a comfortable dining experience.
There were also separate, private spaces perfect for enjoying a meal more intimately. Looking around the interior and reading the large murals and phrases was also quite enjoyable.
3. Damyang Baekban Restaurant Menu
Damyang Galbi Changgo's main dishes were Korean beef short rib patties (Hanwoo Tteokgalbi) and pork ribs served in a bamboo container (Daetong Jeongshik). We decided to order the Hanwoo Tteokgalbi Daetong Jeongshik based on my friend's recommendation.
Soon, the table setting was quickly completed, and the abundant visuals were enough to make my mouth drop open.
The owner has been in the restaurant business for over 10 years. They carefully prepare 100% domestic ingredients every morning at a reasonable price.
The sweet and sour lotus root salad and soy sauce shrimp were incredibly fresh. So, I savored each dish with appreciation.
I was delighted to see marinated crab included in the set meal. The crab meat was plentiful, and the seasoning was delicious, living up to the reputation of a great Damyang restaurant.
The soybean paste stew was filled with brisket, giving it a deep, savory, and rich flavor. Honestly, I could have finished a bowl of rice with just the crab and stew.
The acorn jelly salad (muk-sabal) was a harmonious blend of cool broth and soft acorn jelly. It was especially perfect as a summer delicacy to soothe the stomach on a hot day.
After asking for permission from the owner, I was able to film them grilling. The owner personally grilling the pork ribs and short rib patties gave me even more confidence in the restaurant.
4. Damyang Baekban Restaurant's Hanwoo Tteokgalbi (Korean Beef Short Rib Patties)
This is the main reason to visit Damyang: the Damyang Tteokgalbi. It is made with 100% Korean beef short ribs, and the more you chew, the more savory it becomes, with a unique meaty aroma that is exceptional.
The tender texture, rich juices, and natural seasonings created a deep flavor. And with the added charcoal scent, it was impossible not to love it.
Dipping it in the tangy sauce made the savory taste even more pronounced. I happily continued my feast, making good use of the homemade barley soybean paste.
I also actively used the fragrant perilla leaf pickles. They created a clean finish, preventing the meal from becoming monotonous.
The bamboo shoot salad was also a fantastic match with the short rib patties. The spicy and sweet sauce, the unique crunchy texture of the bamboo shoots, and the chewy snails were a delicacy among delicacies.
The bamboo-steamed rice, sealed with Korean paper, is also an essential element of Damyang cuisine. Upon opening, steam rose, revealing the sticky and nutritious rice.
I immediately put the meat and kimchi on top of the rice and went straight to my mouth, enjoying the diverse flavors as expected.
Wrapping it in fresh lettuce made the tender ingredients of Damyang Restaurant disappear instantly in my mouth.
Next, I participated in the receipt review event on the table. If you save the place and leave a review, you get cold noodles (naengmyeon) for free!
5. Bibim-Makguksu (Spicy Buckwheat Noodles)
The dish that came out was bibim-makguksu with the quality of a single dish. The menu name was actually 'Mandatory Noodles' because they said you must eat it with pork ribs or short rib patties.
The combination of savory buckwheat noodles and melt-in-your-mouth short rib patties was beyond imagination. It was indeed a Damyang Korean restaurant. The meat and seasoning filled the bland texture of the buckwheat noodles, making me understand why they recommended it.
During the meal, I naturally thought of alcohol and asked for it. In addition to soju and beer, Damyang Restaurant had a variety of local specialty liquors.
I filled my beer glass, toasted, and drank it all at once, feeling a tingling sensation all the way down, which made me feel even better.
After a satisfying meal, coffee was thoughtfully prepared for dessert. There were both instant coffee and Americano, so you can choose according to your preference.
6. Overall Review of Damyang Baekban Restaurant
Damyang Restaurant, Damyang Galbi Changgo, operates with the philosophy of only providing food that they would serve to their own family. I could definitely feel why it is called a representative restaurant in the Damyang area. They provide fresh, domestic ingredients in abundance at a reasonable price, so I highly recommend you visit.
