Last month, I saw a grilled clam restaurant with a great ocean view in Yeongjong Island on a TV show called Running Man. It stuck in my head, so my partner and I went there for a drive with another couple. Just like on TV, the fresh seafood and ocean view made it feel like a special day. In the morning, we explored various exhibitions and activities at the Inspire Resort. In the afternoon, we sat by the window, enjoyed grilled clams while watching the sea, and returned in the evening. I realized there's no better day trip date spot near Seoul, so I wanted to share it with everyone.

1. Finding the Grilled Clam Restaurant in Yeongjong Island & Parking

The restaurant we visited that day was located right next to Masian Beach, near the Inspire Resort, so we could easily reach it by just entering the name into the navigation system. Driving along the coast, a large sign on the roadside is easily noticeable, making it easy to find even for first-timers. There are also famous cafes on Instagram nearby, so it's easy to enjoy coffee and ocean views after the meal, making it a convenient date course.

There was a spacious private parking lot in front of the building, so we didn't have to worry about parking. After parking, it was just a few steps to the entrance, which was great because we didn't have to face the strong winter wind from the sea.

2. Exterior with a Great Ocean View

The restaurant building has three floors, with large glass windows that made it feel open to the sea. Each floor has full-length windows facing the ocean, making you think, "I want to enjoy the ocean view while eating there." There was a sign at the entrance saying that you can visit with your dog. These days, many people consider their dogs as family, so the fact that you can dine while watching the sea with your dog is quite appealing. Next time, I'd like to bring my dog to enjoy grilled clams in Yeongjong Island together.

Behind the restaurant, there was a wide view of the sea without any buildings blocking the view, and the scenery of small islands floating like ships in the distance was wonderful. Just before sunset, the sky was painted with a mix of pink and orange, making it impossible not to take pictures.

3. Interior with a Sense of Openness

The interior was decorated in warm wood tones, creating a comfortable atmosphere. The tables were spaced generously, so we could enjoy our meal without our voices mixing with those at the next table. Even with other guests, the sound didn't echo, making it great for conversation. Thanks to the large windows facing the sea, the outside scenery naturally came into view even when seated, which was great for creating a romantic atmosphere.

Next to the kitchen, there was a fish tank filled with seafood. The water was so clear that we could see the shellfish and live fish moving energetically. It was reassuring to see them take the seafood from the tank to cook it right after we ordered.

4. Reasonably Priced Menu at the Grilled Clam Restaurant in Yeongjong Island

Looking at the menu, there was a wide variety of choices from single items to sets. You could order only grilled clams, or there were options to enjoy grilled lobster, sashimi, or seafood ramen together. Since there were four of us, my partner, and another couple, we chose a set menu that allowed us to taste several dishes at once. The set included grilled clams, lobster cheese grill, grilled king prawns, assorted sashimi, and seafood ramen, which was a great way for first-timers to experience a variety of menus at once, and the price was reasonable, so we ordered it.

5. Set Menu Tasting - Grilled Clams, Lobster Cheese Grill, Grilled King Prawns, Assorted Sashimi, Seafood Ramen (or Kalguksu)

Soon after ordering, the basic side dishes were served first. The warm corn cheese and refreshing sliced raw squid played a great role in stimulating our appetite. It felt like a light appetizer before grilling the grilled clams, so we could naturally prepare for the full meal.

Soon, Set Menu A was served all at once, and we couldn't help but admire the sight of the table filled with seafood. The set was well-composed, as it naturally filled us up as we ate the clams, lobster, shrimp, sashimi, and seafood ramen one by one.

We put the clams on the iron plate and waited for them to cook. As soon as they started to sizzle, a savory aroma rose with steam, making our mouths water. The scallops were also thick, so when we took a bite, the firm texture and soft juices spread, making it the star that we reached for before any other dish.

Various clams of different types and sizes were topped with finely chopped vegetables and cheese, stimulating our appetite with their colorful appearance.

As the heat rose, the cheese and sauce permeated the clam meat, giving it a salty and rich flavor. We ate it as it was, and then mixed some rice with the remaining broth, which felt like another dish.

The combination of cheese and chili peppers on the scallops was also impressive. It removed any fishy smell, leaving only the savory taste, and the spicy flavor passed by slightly, making it a great snack with alcohol.

After enjoying the clams sufficiently, the staff cleared the iron plate and placed the lobster cheese grill on it. The aroma of the cheese melting slowly was so strong that our salivary glands exploded. When we took a bite of the meat, the combination of the soft cheese and the sweetness of the lobster was excellent.

The meat from the lobster's front legs had a good yield, with a lot of meat that was not tough but elastic and tender. The more we chewed, the more subtle sweetness came up.

It felt different when we dipped it in the sauce that came with it, which added a spicy flavor. The amount was enough for four people to share, so we were able to enjoy the taste leisurely.

Next, the king prawns were placed on the iron plate. They were grilled golden brown in their shells, so the outside was slightly crispy and the inside was moist.

Thanks to the salt on the bottom, they were seasoned just right even without any special seasoning. After peeling the shells, it was delicious enough to just pick up the meat and eat it.

There were enough prawns for each person to have several. Thanks to the chewy texture and salty flavor, the plate was quickly emptied, making us wonder if we should order more.

After eating the prawns, assorted sashimi was served. The firm texture of the aged sashimi was well preserved, making it enjoyable to chew. Both sashimi lovers and non-lovers could enjoy it without any burden, so we naturally reached for it.

It's nice to dissolve wasabi in soy sauce and dip the sashimi in it to feel the pungent and clean taste of soy sauce.

When we put the sashimi on lettuce and perilla leaves and ate it with garlic and chili peppers, only the clean sea scent remained, and we didn't feel any fishy smell at all.

The last dish of the set was seafood ramen. The large bowl was filled with clams, shrimp, mussels, and crab, making it look more like seafood stew than ramen.

The noodles were moderately chewy, so they didn't get soggy and maintained a firm texture until the end. The broth was spicy but not too stimulating, bringing out the deep flavor of the seafood, so we kept reaching for it.

Eating the various seafood and the warm broth filled us up. All four of us shared the broth several times, making it an addictive finishing dish.

6. Final Review

The fresh ingredients, generous portions, and the ocean view through the glass windows made it incomparable to seafood eaten in the city. After going there myself, I realized why it was featured on TV. I loved the course of playing to my heart's content indoors during the day and grilling grilled clams while watching the sunset in the evening, which satisfied both my eyes and mouth. If you want to spend a happy time with your lover in a situation where there are not many places to travel in winter, I recommend enjoying a date here.
