A Day of Gratitude: Discovering Delicious Makgeolli and Anju at Uirak

Embracing each day with gratitude.
I'm Baeksedongan, and I'm serious about good food!
Today's review is about makgeolli and anju (Korean side dishes that go well with alcohol)!
Uirak, a Dongnam-gu 맛집 (delicious restaurant) is a place that you can trust for makgeolli and their signature dish, pepper fritters.
Recognized by a 9 million-subscriber YouTuber as a top Korean pub.
When you think of anju at a bar, you might assume they are expensive, not very substantial, and only pair well with alcohol. This restaurant completely shatters those preconceptions!
Uirak in Dongnam-gu is a famous restaurant from Mangwon Market in Mapo, Seoul, that has now opened in Cheongju. It boasts the most diverse selection of Korean alcoholic beverages and anju in Korea.
The dim lighting creates a calm and cozy atmosphere, perfect for enjoying drinks. This is Uirak's liquor storage.
Besides soju, beer, and highballs, they have a collection of delicious makgeollis from all over the country. Their highball names are so tempting; just hearing them makes you want to order one. They are made with traditional Korean liquors as a base.
They serve shrimp chips as a basic side dish, and even the water is delicious.

The pepper fritters arrived. Wow! All three of us exclaimed in awe at the same time. The size is no joke.
The crispy batter goes perfectly with the spicy pepper flavor. The filling inside the pepper seems to be a mixture of meat and a bit of tofu, which is savory and nutty.
Uirak is indeed a pepper fritter 맛집! The rumors were true. It's a magical anju that makes the drinks flow.

It's not too spicy, so it's a flavor that everyone, young and old, will enjoy. Today's mood: Crispy!
The sauces, which come in mild and spicy flavors, are also great.

▶ **Korean Beef Intestine Chicken Stew**
Potato, intestine, and chicken are in a soup with spicy chili oil.
Intestine and chicken stew is a novel combination.
It looks very spicy, but it's not. It's just spicy enough for someone sensitive to spice to say, 'Oh, it's a little spicy.' One of my friends is spice-sensitive, but she ate it well. lol

There are plenty of potatoes, intestines, and chicken to eat.
You can add noodles, so we ordered noodles.
It's great as an anju and also good to eat with rice.
▶ **And Rice Balls**
Rice balls filled with seaweed flakes and mayonnaise!
They go perfectly with the Korean Beef Intestine Chicken Stew.
A bite of rice ball when it's a little spicy.

We also ordered a bowl of rice.
Uirak offers a variety of Korean alcoholic beverages and anju. It's a Dongnam-gu 맛집 that everyone will love. It's a makgeolli and anju restaurant you can trust.
