During a recent trip to Jeju, I searched for a place in Aewol where I could enjoy cutlassfish while looking out at the sea. From the moment I saw the wide glass windows framing the ocean, the mood felt right.
The restaurant turned out to be popular with both tourists and locals, yet the space felt tidy and calm. The menu was simple and focused, which made the dining experience feel more intentional.
This visit became a well-paced meal of sashimi, braised cutlassfish, and whole grilled cutlassfish, perfectly paired with a relaxed sea-view atmosphere.
Jeju Manseon Cutlassfish Main Branch in Aewol
I was looking specifically for grilled cutlassfish with a sea view, and Jeju Manseon Cutlassfish Main Branch matched that expectation right away. The building blended naturally with the surrounding scenery, making it easy to spot even on a first visit.
Large glass windows surrounded the dining area, opening the view directly toward the sea. Even before sitting down, the scenery created an inviting first impression.
There was parking available right in front of the restaurant, which made it convenient for those traveling by car. Inside, the spacious glass structure and simple seating arrangement made it easy to focus on the meal itself.
Menu Selection and Ordering Experience
The menu focused mainly on braised cutlassfish and whole grilled cutlassfish, with clear photos displayed for each option. This made ordering straightforward without needing much explanation.
This time, we ordered braised cutlassfish for two people and one whole grilled cutlassfish. While waiting, I found myself naturally curious about how the dishes would arrive and how the table would be set.

From Side Dishes to Sashimi
Before the main dishes arrived, the table slowly filled with basic menu items. Everything was neatly arranged, and the layout never felt cluttered.
The cutlassfish sashimi looked fresh at first glance and became even clearer when dipped into the sauce. Thinly sliced, it was easy to eat and light on the palate.
The mackerel sashimi had a glossy finish and was arranged cleanly, while the flounder sashimi showed firm texture. The tuna sashimi stood out with its vivid red color, adding visual contrast to the table.
Alongside these, the grilled fish slices were thick enough to show off the texture of the meat, setting expectations for the main dishes to come.
Braised Cutlassfish and Whole Grilled Cutlassfish
The braised cutlassfish arrived in a deep red broth, giving a spicy impression right away. The fish was well soaked in the sauce and held together nicely, making it easy to pick up with chopsticks.
Prepared in bite-sized portions, it was perfect for sharing. The flavor was so satisfying that everyone kept reaching for more without hesitation.
The whole grilled cutlassfish was equally impressive, laid out long across the plate. Once the bones were removed, the flesh appeared evenly cooked and clean.
When lifted with chopsticks, the meat separated smoothly and felt light rather than greasy. The golden-brown pancake served alongside, filled with colorful vegetables, rounded out the plate nicely.
A Relaxed Ending with Sea Views
As the dishes were cleared one by one, the table naturally became more organized, maintaining a calm flow throughout the meal.
After finishing, we used the complimentary coffee machine for a quick cup before leaving. The highball we had was visually appealing and made for a pleasant final note.
Enjoying braised and grilled cutlassfish while gazing at the sea felt like the perfect way to conclude a meal in Aewol. The scenery and food complemented each other beautifully, making this restaurant easy to recommend.
