A Culinary Journey at Hamdeok Beach in Jeju

Hamdeok Beach, my favorite spot in Jeju!
A few days ago, I heard that the canola flowers were in full bloom at Seowoo Bong, so I went to enjoy the sea and the flowers.
I wrapped up my day with a meal at a popular restaurant near Hamdeok Beach, and I think you should experience this perfect combination of blue beaches and beautiful canola flowers along with Jeju's rich and flavorful meat noodle soup.
1. A Trip to Hamdeok Beach & Seowoo Bong
Before heading to the restaurant, I took a stroll along the beach and climbed the hill. As soon as I arrived at Hamdeok Beach, I was amazed by the beautiful water color. The view of the canola flower fields from the top of Seowoo Bong was breathtaking, with the vast yellow waves and the shimmering sea behind them.
For the best photo opportunities with the canola flowers, morning is the ideal time to visit. In the afternoon, the backlight can wash out the colors, so if you want to capture vibrant shots, it's better to go early.
I arrived around 11 AM and spent an hour enjoying the flowers. By noon, I was hungry and headed to Hamdeok Dotom Noodle, a specialty meat noodle restaurant in Jeju.
2. Hamdeok Dotom Noodle: Location and Parking Information
This newly opened noodle shop is just a 2-minute drive from Hamdeok Beach, making it very accessible. They also have dedicated parking, so there was no stress about finding a spot. If the lot is full, there are plenty of street parking options nearby.
3. Inside the Restaurant
The restaurant has a surprisingly cozy and stylish atmosphere, which is not what you would typically expect from a noodle shop. It felt like stepping into a trendy café rather than a traditional meat noodle place.
The cleanliness was impressive, with no dust on the tables, making it a pleasant dining experience. The seating is all high-top, but they do have high chairs available for young children.
4. Menu and Side Dishes
The main offerings include noodles and Jeju's signature Dongbaek meat along with a variety of dishes like pork soup. The prices are very reasonable, especially for a tourist spot.
The basic side dishes included shrimp sauce, ssamjang, cabbage kimchi, radish salad, and spicy peppers, all of which complemented the noodles and meat perfectly.
5. Jeju Dongbaek Meat & Noodles
Shortly after ordering, the steaming bowls of Jeju meat noodles and anchovy soup arrived, along with a plate of Dongbaek meat. The presentation was mouth-watering!
The broth was rich and deeply flavored, made from long-simmered ingredients, making it comforting and wholesome. The noodles had the perfect texture—chewy and springy, pairing wonderfully with the meat.
The anchovy soup was refreshing and light, with a perfect blend of toppings, making it an ideal lunch option. The Dongbaek meat was tender and flavorful, with no unpleasant odors, truly one of the best I've had in Jeju.
Overall, Hamdeok Dotom Noodle is a place where you can truly experience the flavors of Jeju's traditions and generous hospitality. If you're in the eastern region of Jeju, make sure to stop by for a meal!
