SEVENTEEN's 'New_World Tour' Lights Up Los Angeles' BMO Stadium Ahead of 10th Anniversary
K-pop group SEVENTEEN electrified Los Angeles' BMO Stadium during their 'New_World Tour,' a celebration leading up to their 10th anniversary and the release of their latest album, 'HAPPY BURSTDAY.' The concerts took place on October 16th and 17th, marking the group's arrival in the United States after kicking off the tour in Korea and making a stop in Hong Kong. Following the LA shows, the global tour continues to Japan.
The LA performances, featuring a nine-member lineup due to upcoming military service obligations in South Korea, were a spectacle of fan delight. While SEVENTEEN typically consists of 13 members (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The 8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino), Jeonghan, Wonwoo, Hoshi, and Woozi were absent for these shows.
The live show opened with a runway-inspired presentation, featuring the B-side track 'Bad Influence.' Members paired off and graced the stage, an opening that seemed to symbolize their recent forays into the fashion world, highlighted by Mingyu's ambassadorship with Dior. 'Bad Influence' itself was produced by Pharrell Williams and debuted at Louis Vuitton's 2025 Fall/Winter men's collection, a fitting choice for a group that effortlessly blends music and fashion.
The tour showcased their latest single, 'Thunder,' along with B-side tracks from 'HAPPY BURSTDAY' in solo performances, each highlighting the individual members' unique personalities and representing SEVENTEEN's current dynamic. Leader S.Coups stated in a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "We are at a new starting line, ready to pave our own path." Hoshi added, "We want to show more of each member's individuality and strength. We want to return as a more evolved SEVENTEEN when we are all together again."
The concerts featured a mix of popular tracks like 'HOT,' 'Rock with you,' 'LOVE, MONEY, FAME,' 'Darl+ing,' and 'F*ck My Life,' alongside unexpected choices such as '17,' '9-TEEN,' and '20.' And of course, the group's signature song, 'VERY NICE,' was a highlight. Originally included on the repackaged version of their first album in 2016, the song has become their iconic anthem, an annual encore moment for fans (collectively known as CARATs) that is repeated several times. The sight of the audience singing along and the members coming down from the stage to meet fans at the barricades created a truly SEVENTEEN-esque 'collaboration' moment.
Towards the end of the live show, the members acknowledged, "We don't know when we will all be together again," alluding to the upcoming military service of the remaining members in the coming years. While a hint of melancholy lingered in the air, it also made the time spent with the audience feel even more precious.
However, there is no pessimistic outlook for their future. S.Coups stated in a previous interview, "Fans are sad about us leaving, but it's not a big problem for us. Rather, we think of it as a long preparation period to make the next album even better."
The New_World Tour continues to Sunrise, Florida, and Washington, D.C. Even with the hurdle of military service ahead, their energy shows no signs of fading. SEVENTEEN is now closing one era and opening the curtain on the next chapter of their story.
