Lee Hanee Expresses Affection for Her Husband, Discusses 'Emma,' and Addresses Tax Evasion Allegations
Actress Lee Hanee has expressed her affection for her husband. Recently, Lee Hanee conducted an online interview about the Netflix film 'Emma.' 'Emma' tells the story of Hee-ran (Lee Hanee), a top star who bravely confronts the dark reality hidden behind the glamorous spotlight in the process of creating the movie 'Madame Emma,' which caused a sensation in Korea in the 1980s, and Joo-ae (Bang Hyo-rin), a rookie actress.
Lee Hanee, who played the main character Hee-ran, promoted 'Emma' while pregnant with a visible baby bump and gave birth to her second daughter on August 24th. During the interview, Lee Hanee shared her feelings about being close to giving birth, saying, "I'm trying to stay calm."
She jokingly added, "Since 'Emma' is released on Friday, I think I'll give birth to 'Emma' this week and the baby next week." She continued, "My mindset is definitely different from when I was alone before having a life," and "As times change, I can work even when heavily pregnant."
"In the past, I could have stopped even if I wanted to. I was also cautious. Even if I wanted to greet people, I didn't know how they would react. Since 'Emma' isn't a family drama, I wondered if I should be more careful, but times have changed a lot," she said.
She also shared about the changes after marriage. "It's obvious, but I don't think I could do all of this without my spouse's support. I think I was able to meet someone like a benefactor and work like this. Rather, it makes me bolder than when I was single," she said, expressing her gratitude to her spouse.
"A bed scene (in a work) can be difficult to understand unless you're an actor. I'm so grateful that he accepts those parts and watches Lee Hanee grow," she said, showing her affection. In particular, Lee Hanee revealed that her attitude toward her work has changed since her child was born. "I've become bolder. I have to leave very precious things at home and go to the set. I hope it's a work worth leaving this existence for, and I think my desire to use that time well is growing now," she said. She continued, "When I go to the set, it's battle mode, and I think this might be the last time. I'm not dreaming of retirement, but I want to make sure I have no regrets even if it's the last time. The things I have to give up for time have become too big. I really focus on the work I have to do. It's true that I think I'll do it even if it ruins my body," she emphasized.
In the interview, Lee Hanee addressed the recent allegations of tax evasion, saying, "There are always times when you feel wronged in life. I think differences in opinion are like that. There are some parts that you have to accept as unavoidable when you do this job." She continued, "I felt a little sorry because I seemed to have surprised and worried many people. The work isn't just mine, so I was worried about what would happen if it was disrupted because of me," she confessed.
