Ahn Hyo-seop Receives the New Artist Award and Donates Entire Prize Money
Actor Ahn Hyo-seop was awarded the New Artist Award at the '15th Beautiful Artist Awards'. His agency, The Present Company, announced the award and shared Ahn Hyo-seop's decision to donate the entire prize money of 20 million won (approximately 2.13 million yen), demonstrating his positive influence.
The awards ceremony, hosted by the Shinyoungkyun Arts and Culture Foundation (Chairman Ahn Sung-ki), was held on the 23rd at Stage 28 in Gangdong-gu, Seoul. Established in 2011 with the foundation's creation, the 'Beautiful Artist Awards' annually selects artists who enhance the value of art and spread positive social influence in the fields of film, theater, merit, good deeds, and new artists, honoring their passion and dedication.
Ahn Hyo-seop once revealed in an interview with foreign media that he likes the Korean word 'areumdapda' (beautiful) the most because it embodies the meaning of being himself. This award is a result of his journey built on sincerity and authenticity, which, like the meaning he has always pursued, has been recognized as the beauty of art. Donating the entire prize money makes it even more meaningful as he can share that beauty more deeply.
Regarding Ahn Hyo-seop, who won the New Artist Award this year for his wide range of activities in dramas, films, and on the global stage, the judging committee stated, "Ahn Hyo-seop, who has improved his acting skills through TV dramas, played the role of Kim Deok-ja, the main character in the movie 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint', and received favorable reviews from audiences and critics for his dense acting and delicate emotional lines."
They added, "Recently, he has been receiving attention from global viewers for voicing Jinwoo in the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Girls! Demon Hunters', and he is being recognized as a new face representing Korean content on the global stage," highly praising his growth and sincerity.
In his acceptance speech, Ahn Hyo-seop said, "The movie 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint' and the movie 'K-Pop Girls! Demon Hunters' are completely different stories, but I thought they were ultimately connected through the same word: inner feelings. I don't know much yet, but I think acting is a way to understand the world, to live someone's pain, joy, and many emotions as best as I can, even if it's not perfect. In that process, I felt that true feelings are conveyed beyond words. I think this award is like a warm encouragement that allows me to continue those feelings."
He added, "Thank you again. I want to express my gratitude to the director, many staff members, 관계자분들, and everyone who has been interested in my story. I still have many shortcomings, so I want to learn more. I will always learn humbly so that I can become a beautiful artist."
Ahn Hyo-seop will return to the romantic comedy genre in his next project, 'It's Sold Out Again Today', which is scheduled to air in Korea in 2026.
