Court Orders Lim Hye-dong to Pay Kim Ha-seong ₩800 Million: A Breakdown of the Legal Battle
Recently, a court ruled that Lim Hye-dong must pay Kim Ha-seong ₩800 million.

When this condition was breached, Kim Ha-seong filed criminal charges against Lim Hye-dong.
Consequently, in 2023, Kim Ha-seong sued Lim Hye-dong for extortion and filed a lawsuit seeking penalty for breach of contract.
This lawsuit is a civil action that compels a party who has breached a contractual obligation to pay a predetermined penalty. Kim Ha-seong won this case.
The Seoul High Court Civil Division 4 ruled, similarly to the first trial, that Lim Hye-dong must pay ₩800 million.
It took a very long time for this court ruling to be reached. The first trial, held in August 2024,
resulted in the same verdict,
meaning the case dragged on for over a year.
In July 2024, the prosecution investigated Lim Hye-dong for extortion, and police requested arrest warrants twice, but they were rejected by the court.
Reportedly, Lim Hye-dong was investigated without detention due to the need to exercise his right to defense.
During this process, Lim Hye-dong likely presented various defense arguments to protect his position.
Kim Ha-seong joined the Nexen Heroes in 2014 and began his career as a professional baseball player.
He then signed with the Major League's San Diego Padres and garnered attention by winning a historic Gold Glove as an Asian infielder.
