Winter does not easily retreat. After several skirmishes with spring, it quietly fades away.

This spring has arrived in a similar fashion. As the signs of spring become evident, news of blooming flowers spreads everywhere.

The path to Hwaamsa Temple, home to the only national treasure in Wanju, is no exception.

On a sunny day, I visited Hwaamsa Temple to welcome the spring flowers.

On the way to Hwaamsa, you pass through Yodong Village (Singraengi Village). This village lies along the route that used to connect the old public road to Unju and Jinsan.

As a result, there are remnants of an inn and a government office in the village.

At the entrance of the village stands a single Shimunamu tree, which was planted to mark the distance of the old public road.

The tree was called 'Smunamu' because it was planted every twenty li.

At the fork in Yodong Village leading to Hwaamsa and Siwudong Village, there is a large zelkova tree, still revered by the villagers.

If you take the right path at the fork, you will reach Siwudong Village, where various wildflowers grow in the surrounding mountains.

During this season, you can spot the rare blue deerhorn flower.

While many areas have common deerhorn flowers, the blue deerhorn is quite rare, making this spot popular in spring.

As you continue towards Hwaamsa from the Yodong fork, a small village appears.

Beyond this village, a forest path leading to Hwaamsa begins. The path is wide enough for several people to walk side by side.

The forest is rich with old trees, indicating its long history.

This path is lined with deerhorn flowers, but they are not yet in bloom.

Following a narrow path to the left, you can see clusters of red spider lilies, their leaves lush and vibrant.

As spring progresses, they are busy preparing to display their beautiful flowers.

Crossing a valley and ascending a slope, you are greeted by the bright yellow of the buttercup flowers, marking the start of the buttercup flower path.

These flowers bloom at the tail end of winter, sometimes even with snow on them.

There are two clusters of buttercups, with the lower one in full bloom and the upper one just starting to flower.

The lower cluster has some late bloomers, while the upper cluster is protected by a fence.

As you pass through the buttercup path, a deck path begins, surrounded by sunlight and warmth.

The trees nearby are sprouting new leaves, hinting that the forest will soon turn a bright green.

Following the deck path along the sloping valley, you will see Bijong Falls, fed by the waters flowing from the Bulmyeongsan Valley.

While not large, it is one of the delights along the way to Hwaamsa.

The hills around the falls receive ample sunlight, making it one of the first places where deerhorn flowers bloom.

As the deerhorn flowers bloom here, they will soon bloom in the lower areas as well.

The deerhorn flower path stretches from the parking lot entrance to Hwaamsa, completing the floral journey.

With the early blooming buttercups and deerhorn flowers, along with the added beauty of other wildflowers, a stunning flower path is created.

As you ascend the stone stairs, you can see Hwaamsa Temple, a quaint and elegant place that resembles a flower blooming on a rock.

In front of the entrance, a plum tree stands, its buds swelling, promising a beautiful bloom soon.

Walking the path to Hwaamsa Temple, the buttercup flowers paint the surroundings yellow, and the deerhorn flowers are beginning to bloom.

Soon, the forest path to Hwaamsa will transform into a vibrant deerhorn flower path, making it a delightful place to walk in spring.

For those yearning for the scent of spring, I recommend walking the flower path to Hwaamsa Temple on a sunny day.
