Morning Hike at Cheonggyesan Mountain

청계산

Consistency is the ultimate key to health, and today marks my 1,885th morning hike up Cheonggyesan Mountain (청계산). With a refreshing temperature of 23 degrees Celsius, the air was crisp and perfect for a steady climb toward the Jeongja direction. This daily ritual has become more than just exercise; it is a precious memory built over thousands of mornings in the heart of nature.
Reaching the mountain exercise area, I dedicated a full hour to a rigorous outdoor workout routine. From high-intensity movements like muscle-ups and front and back turns to flexibility-focused stretches, the mountain provides the perfect open-air gym. There is a unique kind of energy found in a morning workout surrounded by the ancient trees and quiet trails of Seoul's southern peaks.
Daily Ritual: Climbing Towards Jeongja
Finding peace on the 1,885th ascent
The path toward Jeongja is one of my favorite sections of Cheonggyesan Mountain (청계산). Every step feels familiar yet new as the seasons shift. On this particular morning, the mild 23-degree weather allowed for a comfortable ascent without the overwhelming heat of mid-summer. The steady incline serves as a natural warm-up before the heavy lifting begins at the exercise area.
Being a regular hiker here allows me to witness the subtle changes in the forest. The morning fog often creates a fantastic scene, making the climb feel like a dreamlike moment. Reaching this milestone number of hikes is a testament to the restorative power that this mountain offers to those who visit it daily.
Mountain Gym: An Intense Outdoor Routine
Muscle-ups and 70 rotations to start the day
The outdoor workout area is where the real "hard labor" happens. My routine today was comprehensive, covering both strength and mobility. I started with muscle-ups and sit-ups, followed by leg splits and Karate chops to maintain flexibility. The highlight of the session was completing 70 sets of front and back turns, a challenging move that truly awakens the core.
Incorporating windmills, push-ups, and turns into a mountain hike creates a valuable experience that a traditional indoor gym simply cannot replicate. Breathing in the fresh mountain oxygen while pushing your physical limits is the best way to ensure a bright future for your health. After an hour of intense effort, the descent back down felt light and rewarding.
Do you have a daily health ritual that keeps you grounded like my morning hikes up Cheonggyesan Mountain? Have you ever tried an intense "mountain gym" workout instead of going to a regular fitness center? If you're looking for a fresh start to your day, I highly recommend the air at the Jeongja summit! Would you like me to suggest a specific hiking course based on your fitness level?
