Life has a funny way of highlighting the things we least expect. While I focus on design and travel, it’s my daily ramblings that seem to catch the eye of the Naver Blog algorithm. This post captures the essence of those small, unfiltered moments that make up my reality.
From watching classic movies on a MacBook to enjoying bingsu after a long day of work, these are the fragments of a summer filled with extreme weather and unexpected kindness. It is a reflection on personal growth, changing MBTI types, and the simple comfort of home.
Embracing the Classics and Movie Nights at Home
Finding solace in vintage cinema
During my time off, I dedicated myself to watching movies. While I initially planned for a projector setup with chips and beer, the exhaustion from house chores led me to my MacBook instead. After an hour of scrolling through Watcha, I settled on 'Some Like It Hot' starring Marilyn Monroe.
There is something uniquely healing about classic films. My friends, who consider themselves connoisseurs of "terrible" movies, have also provided a list of depressing recommendations for September. I look forward to this cinematic "rehab" as a way to process the end of the season.
Small Acts of Kindness and Summer Treats
Sweet moments with Kuromi and Watermelon Bingsu
I recently acquired a Kuromi cup holder from Composed Coffee. On my way home, I met a child who reminded me of a famous meme, and I decided to give it to him. It made me realize that being a true adult might mean being able to readily give away something cute to make someone else's day.
To beat the heat, I’ve been indulging in watermelon bingsu. While strawberry bingsu remains my all-time favorite, a good watermelon version with condensed milk and soda is incredibly refreshing. It’s the perfect reward after a day of hard labor.
Walking Along Cheonggyecheon Stream (청계천)
The urban sanctuary that beats the Han River
I often find myself at Cheonggyecheon Stream (청계천). I prefer the atmosphere here over the Han River. Recently, I saw an outdoor library setup near City Hall. Even with the strong evening sun, people were gathered to read, though most books were focused on financial advice, which I skipped.
The stream is a place of observation. I saw a man singing loudly while walking, which made me wonder if that’s how I look when I sing on my bike. It’s a space where the city’s energy and personal reflection meet under the cool shade of the bridges.
Reflections on Identity and New Beginnings
From INTP to INTJ and the return to drawing
A recent MBTI test showed a shift in my personality from INTP to INTJ/INFJ. It seems planning has become a bigger part of my life, even for my trips. I roughly plan where to eat and go, leaving the specific content to be decided once I arrive at the destination.
I’ve also started "drawing rehabilitation." It’s been a while since I did detailed sketches, and my skills have deteriorated. It’s hard to draw out of pure love alone now; sometimes I need a bit of external pressure to get the pen moving again.
Home, Family, and the End of Summer
Anticipating September and family gatherings
Summer has been a mix of scorching heat and sudden downpours. I’m looking forward to September when my sibling visits. We plan to use my relief money to make the ultimate sukiyaki and share a proper bottle of alcohol, reclaiming the domestic joy we've missed lately.
Despite the exhaustion of being a worker, moments like visiting a friend's hamster or hearing the Anpanman song remind me of the feeling of being "home." As the heat fades, I know I might actually end up missing this chaotic summer weather.
How has your summer been so far? Do you find yourself planning every detail like a new INTJ, or are you going with the flow? If you're looking for a peaceful spot to hide from the heat, I highly recommend the quiet corners of Cheonggyecheon Stream near City Hall. Have you discovered any hidden "healing" movies lately?
