Hiking the Haeparang Trail: A Two-Day Adventure

August 23, 2025
Arrived at Dong Seoul Terminal to hike the Haeparang Trail (memories of military leave flooding back).
Took a taxi from Yangyang Intercity Bus Terminal to Susan Port.
This is the start and end point of Course 43 and 44.
Since this trek is in reverse, starting from the end of Course 43.
Matgol Restaurant
Recommended by the taxi driver: A restaurant famous for mussel soup and cockle bibimbap.
Started with a bottle of raw makgeolli (rice wine) to boost the energy from the beginning.
Started walking.
From here to Hajodae Beach.
Definitely planning to revisit Hajodae as a snorkeling spot.
Jukdo Beach and Hyuhyuam Temple.
Last rest stop: Mung Beach convenience store is a superstar.
The ice cream's name seems to be Choco.
Waited in line to get into this outdoor BBQ restaurant.
We ordered 2 servings of pork belly and 1 serving of grilled squid.
Plus soybean paste stew and 2 bowls of rice.
This restaurant is definitely a perfect score.
The quality and taste of the meat are beyond words.
That soybean paste stew is incredibly delicious.
It looked salty, so I thought about adding water, but after one bite, like Kim Jun-hyun from "Delicious Guys",
The surroundings turned black, and a pin spotlight hit me.
Got briefly intoxicated with the rice and stew.
The soju and beer get cold quickly outside, but it's not a big problem if you drink it fast.
I'm extremely satisfied with this restaurant.
Walked for about 7 hours in the scorching sun that day.
The reasons I decided to take this trip were twofold: I've been having a lot of worries lately, feeling like I'm going through a mid-life crisis, and I wanted to create new memories with my friend. I got definite satisfaction.

Day 2 begins.
As delicious as a Blue Ribbon restaurant.
I never knew Yangyang was this big.
Entered Gangneung City on Day 2.
Arrived in Jumunjin and...
Sprained my ankle while walking and looking at my phone to find directions LOL
Finished at Jumunjin Port.
My friend and I planned to go from Jumunjin Port to Jeongdongjin next time.
Wrapping up here.
The bus from Gangneung to Seoul takes about 4 hours on Sundays.
Make sure to check and book in advance.
Let's only look ahead when walking!
