Exploring the Souvenir Shop in Insadong

Hello! This is Penguin.
I recently visited the Insadong souvenir shop called 'Yeon' to buy a gift for a friend and decided to write a post about it.
First of all, the Insadong souvenir shop 'Yeon' is located just a 7-minute walk from Exit 5 of Jongno 3-ga Station, making it easy to find. It's near Ssamzigil, which offers a variety of attractions in the area.
The shop originally had a white sign, but they're in the process of changing it to a blue one, so the name 'Yeon' was temporarily removed from the sign.
As soon as I entered the souvenir shop, I was greeted by a stunning display of colorful handmade crafts.
There is often a perception that handmade items are old-fashioned, but there were so many quirky and charming items that would appeal to the younger MZ generation.
I spent quite a while just browsing! Don't you think the vibrant colors are beautiful?
The titanium spoon and fork set along with the one-touch mother-of-pearl mirror were luxurious yet reasonably priced, making them practical purchases.
The mother-of-pearl mirror has a beautiful golden and silver detail around its edge, making it sparkle elegantly.
The hand-embroidered jewelry box in the left photo may seem simple, but the embroidery is so vibrant that it catches the eye. The colored boxes exuded a princess-like atmosphere.
Overall, the pastel tones like indie pink and cream beige were soft and not overly saturated, making them perfect colors for young women.
There were also traditional hand-embroidered coasters and adorable lucky bags available.
The products at 'Yeon' are reasonably priced considering their quality. There were many pretty small accessories that fit comfortably in one hand, perfect for displaying on a vanity.
This traditional and richly colored mother-of-pearl box seems like it would never go out of style. Classic is forever!
These days, many people use tumblers, and the hologram-printed mother-of-pearl tumbler had an impressive design. It would look beautiful to carry around!
There were also rings that looked like they belonged in a historical drama. They are flashy yet comfortable to wear, making them suitable for both traditional hanbok and trendy outfits.
I noticed some elegant crossbody bags that were practical and came in bright colors, making them convenient for daily use.
Another impressive souvenir was traditional Korean liquor. There were various options like Won Soju, Geumsan Ginseng Wine, Purple Jin, and Gam Hong Ro, all with their alcohol content labeled. These would make great gifts for men.
I personally love accessories, so I checked out the hairpins and traditional combs, which had such delicate designs. I was already thinking of getting a souvenir for a friend.
My friend had mentioned wanting a simple hairpin, so I chose a jade green one that I thought she would like!
The baby pink and white flower-shaped hairpin became my travel souvenir, while the purple butterfly hairpin and jade green hairpin were selected as gifts for my friend.
When I actually styled my hair with the hairpins, it created a lovely atmosphere.
Especially, the traditional comb can complement not just hanbok or fancy attire but also everyday clothing, adding a feminine and sophisticated touch to any outfit. I highly recommend trying it!
In conclusion, the Insadong souvenir shop 'Yeon' was filled with lovely pastel items, unique traditional Korean household goods, luxurious traditional liquors, and simple yet beautiful accessories.
