Gobo Natural Park, a representative and eco-friendly site in Sejong City,

is centered around Gobo Reservoir (高福貯水池), also known as Yongam Reservoir.

It spans both Yongam-ri and Gobo-ri in the Yeonseomyeon district of Sejong Special Self-Governing City.

Constructed in 1989 to supply agricultural water, it features a maximum depth of 14.75 meters and a massive storage capacity of 4,429,000 tons.

A 3.7 km deck path runs along the reservoir's perimeter, offering a delightful walking experience on the water's surface throughout the four seasons.

In spring, the area is adorned with vibrant cherry blossoms; in summer, lush greenery; in autumn, colorful foliage; and in winter, a picturesque landscape covered in ice and snow.

The deck path stretches from the lotus garden in front of the Yeonggidae Monument to the embankment, marked by the green line in the accompanying illustration.

Recently, the reservoir's surface froze over due to a prolonged cold snap, lightly blanketed by snow, creating a winter wonderland.

As I stroll along the deck path, I notice long footprints on the snow-covered ice, but I can’t identify which animal they belong to.

I spot a bird diligently pecking at something on the ice, though I have no idea what it could be.

Perhaps it's nibbling on ice fragments?

Walking along the deck path, I encounter charming photo spots.

A venerable tree stands guard over Gobo Reservoir...

This water willow seems to be quite old, as its trunk is covered in moss.

Next to the tree is a habitat for tiger butterflies.

Will I be able to see them when the weather warms up?

There’s a uniquely shaped sculpture in the butterfly habitat labeled as an insect hotel.

These trees, once decayed, will become habitats for various insects.

I begin to see many ducks appearing between the trees.

The ducks are gathered in a puddle where the ice hasn’t formed, enjoying themselves.

I pause to watch them play in the open area without obstruction.

Some ducks stand barefoot on the ice while others swim in the water.

They don’t seem to mind the cold.

Watching the ducks frolic, I feel as if I’m part of their group.

Among the ducks, I occasionally spot a mandarin duck.

The one with the orange color is the mandarin duck.

Backlit, the sunlight sparkles beautifully on its feathers.

Observing the ducks in this light is quite entertaining.

Leaving the ducks behind, I continue my walk on the deck path.

Someone has made a heart shape on the ice.

Upon reaching the reed wetland, a bald cypress standing firm in the water catches my eye.

There’s also a lovely photo spot next to the cypress.

If I walk a bit further towards the embankment, I will reach Minrakjeong Pavilion.

I take a moment to catch my breath and relax at Minrakjeong.

This area is a wetland ecological park.

Walking along the path through the reed forest is quite enjoyable.

I have arrived at the end of the deck path at the embankment.

In spring, when the cherry blossoms bloom, it creates a beautiful tunnel.

This is the view of Gobo Reservoir from the embankment.

The short winter sun is already tilting towards the west, starting to paint the sky with sunset hues.

Now, I must hurry back the way I came.

Despite the cold weather, walking along the Gobo Reservoir deck path allowed me to fully experience the joy of connecting with nature in winter.

It was a delightful and happy time.
