A Walk Along the Guui Reservoir Trail: "Enjoying Beautiful Reservoir Scenery"

Guui Reservoir is a great place to walk in spring without any burden.

There are several trails in Wanju County, but the Guui Reservoir Trail is a must-visit during cherry blossom season.

Let me introduce the Guui Reservoir Trail, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the reservoir.

After parking at the entrance of the Guui Reservoir's sluice gate, I set off on the trail.

If the parking lot is full, you can use the parking area near the Guui Administrative Welfare Center.

The sluice gate is designed to allow water to flow naturally.

Standing on the bridge that crosses the waterway, you can see the cherry blossoms along the reservoir embankment.

The cherry trees lined up below the Guui Reservoir embankment truly come alive in spring.

When the tall cherry trees bloom, you can easily tell that spring has arrived at the reservoir from a distance.

There are two ways to enjoy the cherry blossoms at Guui Reservoir.

The first is to walk along the path beneath the embankment, enjoying the blossoms up close.

This is a common method used elsewhere as well.

You can feel the essence of spring while being close to the cherry blossoms.

The second method is to walk along the top of the embankment.

From above, you can overlook the cherry blossoms.

This offers a different perspective than walking below.

Here, you can appreciate the landscape created by the cherry trees coming together.

If you viewed the trees from below first, this way allows you to see the forest.

In the middle of the embankment, there is a water intake tower.

It is used to supply water during the farming season.

Cherry blossoms are also blooming around the intake tower.

Branches extending over the water's surface are adorned with flowers that shine like jewels.

It's a beautiful sight.

After enjoying the cherry blossoms, it's time to officially walk the trail.

I walked along the embankment path past the intake tower. The path is flat and easy to walk on.

You can alternate between views of the scenery inside and outside the reservoir.

From the end of the embankment, the trail transitions to a mountain path.

This is a forest path on a low hill.

It's an ordinary forest path, but you can hear the sounds of spring.

Diligent trees have begun to sprout leaves, gradually turning the forest a light green.

Following the forest path, you will reach a lakeside deck path.

This path allows you to walk while looking at the reservoir scenery.

The Guui Reservoir Trail is a circular route.

I plan to return to the starting point after passing the distant end of the reservoir.

After the lakeside deck path ends, you walk along a path leading to the village.

Then, you pass through a bamboo grove and re-enter the forest path.

The forest path is short, then you enter the lakeside deck path again.

The scenery of the reservoir is similar to what you saw earlier.

As I walked along the long deck path, I paid attention to the forest.

I saw ginger flowers and hazel flowers as well.

Following the deck path, you will come across a heart sculpture.

If you leave the deck path and cross a low hill, you will find the Korea Alcohol Theme Museum.

If you have time, it would be nice to stop by the museum. The mountain behind the museum is Gyeonggak Mountain.

There is a paragliding launch site.

On nice days, you can see the scenery of paragliding.

After visiting the Korea Alcohol Theme Museum, I returned to the heart sculpture and continued along the deck path.

After walking for a while, the deck path ends and transitions to a forest path.

This forest is made up of larger trees than the previous forest path.

Walking along the forest path, I naturally observed the forest.

I spotted Namsan violets and Corydalis flowers.

The forest is adorned with pink azaleas.

Spring has reached deep into the forest. It's a beautiful forest landscape.

The once ordinary forest path has turned into an uphill path.

At the end of the ascent, you meet a ridge path that descends gently.

When you come down from the mountain, it leads to the lakeside path.

A bird hunting for food by the water quickly flies deeper into the reservoir.

As the sun sets behind Moak Mountain, the wind has calmed down.

Walking the Guui Reservoir Trail at this time brings you beautiful reflections.

The reflections of the mountains and trees along the path to the village create a stunning picture.

On both sides of the deck path crossing the waterway, hearts are set up.

The heart sculptures installed at Guui Reservoir symbolize the 'love and abundance' of those who visit.

They also signify a 'confession of love spot' for couples.

The lakeside trail passes by the village, where there is a place selling drinks.

They also host busking events here.

I would like to return to the Guui Reservoir Trail to enjoy the busking when I have time.

Walking around the village, you can see a grove of black willows inside the reservoir.

This area, located on the opposite side of the embankment, has shallow water where the black willows have taken root.

With the blooming flowers and emerging leaves, it creates a unique landscape in light green.

This is another gift that the Guui Reservoir Trail offers in spring.

The section of the trail connecting Hangama Village to Lakeside Village features a floating deck path.

Walking on water makes you feel even better.

This section has beautiful scenery and variety, making it a place I want to revisit.

The trail past Lakeside Village leads through the Guui Water Sports Safety Center back to the parking lot.

I walked around Guui Reservoir along the trail.

The total distance is about 9 km and it took around 3 hours.

I think it's a great course for exercise on weekends.

Right now, with the cherry blossoms blooming and the reservoir scenery beautiful, it's an even better time to walk.

If you want to soak in the spring energy, take a walk on the Guui Reservoir Trail.
