Hello! This is Da-hae.

The weather has been really cold lately!

So, I've mostly been spending time indoors.

This year, I've had a lot of foreign friends visiting Korea, and they always ask me to recommend good restaurants.

Every time, I found myself hesitating because I live in a quiet area of Seoul and don’t know much about the landmarks.

That's why I've been exploring parts of Seoul that I haven't visited before to find some great places to eat!

Recently, I visited Unhyeongung Palace with my mom and had the chance to check out a restaurant called Pal-O-Sam (853) in Insadong’s Ssamji-gil.

Pal-O-Sam is a meat restaurant that even uses a special barley ssamjang for dipping!

Located in Ssamji-gil, it's also very close to Anguk Station's exit 6, making it easy to find.

There are plenty of attractions nearby, so you can enjoy various activities before or after your meal!

We visited Unhyeongung Palace as mentioned earlier.

The address is 16, Insadong 12-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

The restaurant has a beautiful hanok (traditional Korean house) vibe, which I really love.

That’s why I enjoy Jongno so much!

Additionally, there is a certification mark at the entrance indicating that they serve high-quality Korean pork.

Personally, I believe that pork should always be Korean pork because it's the tastiest!

This is a very important point.

Now, let’s talk about the menu at Pal-O-Sam!

While it’s a meat restaurant, they also offer lunch menus!

The lunch menu is available from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Some of the lunch options include spicy pork stew, seafood soft tofu stew, and bibimbap.

I tried the seafood soft tofu stew and bibim makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) here, and they were delicious! I highly recommend the bibim makguksu!

Many of my foreign friends are vegan, and Pal-O-Sam has vegetarian options available too!

The interior is spacious, making it a great place for groups to dine together!

The dishes are served in a premium style, and as you can see, there are various types of kimchi!

We ordered one serving of pork belly and one serving of pork jowl.

Just by looking, you can tell that the meat is incredibly fresh!

Not just any pork, but premium Korean pork!

One great thing about Pal-O-Sam is that they grill the meat for you, so you don’t have to worry about cooking it yourself.

The pork jowl was grilled perfectly, showcasing its unique marbling and tenderness.

It was incredibly delicious, tender, and flavorful!

I usually love pork jowl, but this one tasted especially good.

Initially, I wrapped it in lettuce with ssamjang and garlic, and I found the ssamjang to be exceptionally tasty as it’s homemade barley ssamjang.

At this point, I realized the owner is genuinely passionate about their meat.

And don’t forget to order the cold buckwheat noodles when you have the meat!

They pair perfectly with the meat, having a slightly sweet and tangy flavor.

Following that, we had the grilled pork belly, which looked thick and delicious.

It was indeed incredibly tasty!

They cut it into bite-sized pieces, which I appreciated.

True to its quality, there was no unpleasant smell from the meat.

The owner’s dedication to the meat is evident with the variety of dipping sauces available, including salted mackerel, wasabi, Himalayan salt, and mustard seeds!

Combining the mustard seeds and wasabi created a clean and spicy flavor that was delightful!

Overall, I was thoroughly satisfied!

As I mentioned earlier, the lunch menu includes the cold buckwheat noodles, which I highly recommend, as well as the seafood soft tofu stew, perfect for warming up on a cold day!

Pal-O-Sam (853) in Insadong offers premium Korean pork, various dipping sauces, and well-prepared side dishes.

With such a great lunch menu, it’s definitely a must-visit spot in Insadong!

Enjoy your meal at Pal-O-Sam and have a wonderful day!
