Have you ever felt disappointed because there was nowhere to exercise near your home? Goyang City is actively working to reduce such inconveniences by transforming underutilized urban spaces into community sports facilities.

Spaces that were previously low in usage, such as under elevated roads and retention basins, are now being reborn as accessible exercise areas for everyone.

From 2023 to 2026, Goyang City plans to invest approximately 3.8 billion won to create various sports facilities beneath elevated roads and in retention basins.

✔ Existing Facilities

The Daegangdong Sports Complex has been established under National Route 39.

Located in Deogyang-gu, this area features ground golf, foot volleyball, futsal, and breaking zones.

Additionally, tennis courts have been created in Samseong-dong and Daehwa-dong retention basins, each offering 5 courts that can be used year-round without concerns about rain or snow.

✔ Upcoming Facilities

New facilities are set to be built this year, including a multipurpose field under the elevated road in Seongseok-dong and two pickleball courts in Hangju-dong, with construction beginning in the first half of the year and completion expected by the end of the year.

Goyang City is also expanding public sports facilities to ensure that more community sports centers are available.

For instance, the Tanhyeon Sports Center, scheduled to open in May 2027, will feature a swimming pool, a multipurpose gym, and even a café.

Furthermore, the Baekseok National Sports Center is set to open in January 2027, offering a gym with spectator seating, along with badminton courts and a soccer field.

The Wonheung Complex Cultural Center, scheduled for March 2027, will include a swimming pool, a gym, and a library, providing a space for both exercise and cultural activities.

Additionally, the existing sports facilities are being improved for a more pleasant experience. Upgrades include replacing old lighting at Goyang Sports Town and artificial turf at Jungsan Sports Park.

Goyang City believes that “community sports are not a choice but a necessity,” striving to create a city where everyone can exercise anytime, anywhere. We hope you look forward to the new sports facilities coming to our neighborhoods!
