Hello everyone! Isn't the weather amazing these days?

The sunshine is so delightful that I couldn't just stay still.

So today, I quickly visited the famous cherry blossom drive route in Jeonbuk,

the Cherry Blossom Path at Songgwangsa Temple in Wanju.

This cherry blossom path began to take shape in the early 1980s.

Local residents and the community of Soyang-myeon came together to plant royal cherry trees along the roadside,

which has now transformed into a stunning tunnel.

Over nearly 40 years, the trees have grown large enough to touch each other,

creating the fantastic cherry blossom canopy we see today.

As of my visit on April 2, 2026, the cherry blossoms were about 90% in bloom.

They looked beautiful, resembling popcorn bursting,

and since the green leaves have yet to emerge, this weekend to early next week seems like the best time for capturing life-changing photos.

Driving through the Cherry Blossom Tunnel

The Soyang Cherry Blossom Path stretches about 1.6 km,

with royal cherry trees on both sides forming a true cherry blossom tunnel.

Driving slowly, you feel like the protagonist in a movie.

Lowering the window and feeling the spring breeze while driving washes away all stress.

I also recommend stopping safely to walk for a bit.

Experiencing the cherry blossom rain as petals flutter in the wind is truly romantic.

Don't forget to take videos here!

Songgwangsa Temple, holding a millennium of history

At the end of the cherry blossom path, you will find Songgwangsa Temple,

which has a rich history dating back to the Silla period, over a thousand years ago.

Unlike many temples located deep in the mountains,

this one is on flat ground, making it very accessible for walking.

It's perfect for travelers who prefer to explore on foot.

Three must-see points at Songgwangsa Temple

The path between Ilju Gate and Geumgang Gate

After passing through the Ilju Gate, there is a long path that is one of the best photo spots in Songgwangsa.

Thanks to the serene atmosphere, you can capture beautiful photos effortlessly.

The Treasure-designated Daeungjeon Hall

Daeungjeon Hall is designated as a treasure of Korea.

Inside, there are three enormous Buddha statues that are truly overwhelming.

Looking at the intricate dancheong (traditional colorful paintwork) and the weathered wooden pillars,

you can't help but feel a sense of calm.

Photography is prohibited, so be sure to see it with your own eyes!

Four Sacred Instruments in the Pavilion

In the two-story pavilion on the right, there are four instruments: the bell, the dharma drum, the wooden fish, and the cloud board.

Each represents life on land, in water, and in the sky.

They may look like mere instruments, but knowing their deep significance makes them even more impressive.

After the vibrant cherry blossoms, the tranquility within the temple is refreshing.

Before visiting, please note that some areas of Songgwangsa are under renovation.

While it won't hinder your visit much, be careful of uneven floors and construction materials when taking photos.

If you have no plans this weekend, how about a drive to Songgwangsa Temple?

From the gorgeous cherry blossom tunnel to the historical thousand-year-old temple, it's a perfect healing course.

Enjoy the beautiful flowers and capture many life-changing photos!
