A Windy Autumn Escape: Chrysanthemums and Views at Geochang Star Wind Hill

During my recent trip to Geochang, I made sure to visit Geochang Star Wind Hill, a place I had been eager to see.
Located on the slopes of Gamak Mountain, this hill lives up to its name, offering a chance to experience both the wind and the stars. The giant wind turbines visible from afar are a landmark here! The cool breeze that greeted me as soon as I reached the top of the hill seemed to wash away all the travel fatigue.
Although the sky was a bit cloudy and it was raining on and off, the scenery of the wind turbines blending with the clouds felt dramatic. Thanks to the panoramic views, the mountain ranges and clouds unfolded like a painting, making it a great place to take pictures.

One of the highlights of Geochang Star Wind Hill is the Asta Chrysanthemum Festival, which is held every autumn. This year, it's scheduled to take place from September 19th to October 12th.
I visited a bit early, so the chrysanthemums weren't in full bloom yet, but I think they will be beautifully purple in about two weeks. The picture was taken on Saturday, September 6th, 2025.
Even the scattered purple chrysanthemums that were blooming were charming enough. But I was a little sad. It would have been better if I had come when they were in full bloom.

If you visit during the festival, you'll witness a spectacular sight of purple waves spreading across the hill. Don't miss it!
From the observation deck, I could see Wolyeo Mountain, Hwangmae Mountain, and even the Jirisan mountain range at a glance. It was fun to trace each peak along the information panel, and above all, the cool breeze blowing was refreshing.

Geochang Star Wind Hill has different charms depending on the season, so it's a great place to visit anytime. Flowers in spring, cool breezes in summer, chrysanthemums and silver grass in autumn, and snow-covered hills in winter... It was a place where you can feel the gifts of nature all year round.
It was one of the most memorable places on this trip to Geochang, and I definitely want to come back when the Asta chrysanthemums are in full bloom. If you are planning a trip to Geochang, I highly recommend Geochang Star Wind Hill, where you can enjoy both healing and memorable photos.
