A Stroll Through Gwanghwamun Square: History, Art, and Summer Vibes

Must-see spots in Seoul: Gwanghwamun Square and the Kyobo Building plaque.
At Gwanghwamun Square, the most remarkable sight is undoubtedly the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
With Inwang Mountain in the distance, Admiral Yi Sun-sin stands tall and dignified.
Despite facing defeat and being left with only twelve ships against the Japanese, he declared, "I still have twelve ships!"
Admiral Yi Sun-sin demonstrated his resolve to repel the enemy. Even now, he appears trustworthy, as if ready to defend the nation should any crisis arise.
Around Gwanghwamun Square, various flowers bloom, brightening the surroundings.
The fountain in front of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's statue sprays water, creating a refreshing atmosphere.

Children are playing at the Gwanghwamun fountain.

Across the way is the Kyobo Bookstore sign.

“Summer is the season of verbs – stretching, growing, flowing, rising.”

Information about the Sejong Museum of Art exhibition at the Sejong Center: From Monet to Andy Warhol.

I’m thinking about making time to visit this exhibition with friends.
Heading to Ogeum Station to meet a friend, I descend into the Gwanghwamun Station on Subway Line 5.
