Winter Trip to Hwacheon: Exploring Gokun Gugok's 3rd Course, Sinnyeo Gorge

A winter trip to the pristine Hwacheon!
I went on a day trip with friends to Hwacheon, Gangwon-do, famous for its clean air. I'm going to introduce the travel courses one by one, starting today. If you're planning a trip during winter vacation, you can also enjoy a trip to Hwacheon.
If you cross the Gokun Gugok suspension bridge, there is a promenade along the valley, making it a great place to take a leisurely walk while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The valley was especially beautiful. There were many unique rocks, and even the sound of the water flowing through the rocks was clear.

We expected traffic jams on the weekend, so we left a little early.
The first place we went was Gokun Gugok's 3rd course, Sinnyeo Gorge. This is the view of the valley and the suspension bridge from the pavilion. You can also see the tomato sculpture on the bridge.
Parking Information
When we arrived according to the navigation, it was right at the parking lot. It was easy to find because it was next to the road. The parking lot was larger than expected, so there was plenty of space.
Restroom
There is a management office and restroom near the entrance to the parking lot. I was worried it would be cold, but the restroom was well heated. It was also kept clean.
Sketch of the Promenade Entrance
Before going down to the suspension bridge, you can see a pavilion and a wonderful sculpture. The suspension bridge was visible at a glance from the pavilion. There is also a sculpture with a chair as a motif.
This is the view of Gokun Gugok's 3rd course from the parking lot. The suspension bridge looks quite scary from here. We set out to cross the bridge to get to the promenade.
My friends went ahead a long time ago. I'm left alone to enjoy the leisure. First, I carefully approached the bridge. It swayed a little every time I walked, so at first I walked carefully, but as I got used to it, my pace quickened. The rocks and valleys under the bridge finally came into view.
The sound of the cool stream flowing was very nice to hear. As I walked, I soon crossed the bridge. Now, I'm going to walk along the promenade.
Ecological Trail Walk
I'm starting a full-fledged trail walk. I read about the Gokun Gugok suspension bridge.
Wait a minute!!
Gokun Gugok? The name was unique, so I suddenly became curious. When I found out what it meant, it turned out that it was part of the Jichoncheon Stream, a tributary of the North Han River, and was named after the pen name 'Gokun' of Kim Su-jeung, a Confucian scholar of the Joseon Dynasty. He abandoned his official position and came down to Hwacheon to live in seclusion. He discovered nine scenic spots in Yongdam Valley and named them Gokun Gugok.
These nine scenic spots are: Banghwagye (a season when flowers bloom on every spring rock), Cheongokyeop (a gorge with clear and deep water like jade), Sinnyeo hyeop (gorge of the goddess), Baekundam (pond like white clouds), Myeongokroe (a rapids with the sound of jade breaking), Waryongdam (pond of Waryong), Myeongwolgye (valley of the bright moon), Yungiyeon (deep water honoring the will), and Cheopseokdae (layered rocks).
It felt good to step on the rustling fallen leaves. The valley breeze, which was so cold that my nose tingled, made me close my collar, but it was still nice to come out. The trail walk continued as a sense of tranquility seemed to come after the colorful season.
If you walk all the way along the trail, it is private property. I turned back, but a friend who likes to walk went all the way to the end and came back.
I stopped walking for a moment and looked at the scenery!!!
Walking, resting, looking at the scenery, and listening to the sounds of nature, I felt like my heart was purified.
Time to look around and return!!
I took a commemorative photo to soothe my disappointment.
It's such a pretty place, it must be pretty no matter what season you come.
