As June arrives, signaling the start of summer, travelers are captivated by the vibrant landscapes, particularly the blooming hydrangea gardens. This year, Ulsan is presenting a magnificent floral display against the backdrop of the blue sea, attracting weekend visitors.

This event is not just about landscaping; it is a collaborative effort between local residents and the municipality to create a special space. Customized transportation plans and diverse pathways have been arranged for weekend visitors, ensuring a more enjoyable seasonal getaway.

The Jangsaengpo Hydrangea Festival, held in the Whale Cultural Village of Ulsan, will welcome visitors from June 19 to June 28, 2026. This area, once a gray and harsh military base, has transformed into a 25,500 square meter paradise of flowers through the voluntary participation of the local community.

This year, the planting area has significantly expanded along the road from the Whale Museum to the pier, making the entire village feel like a grand fortress of flowers. Various shades of blue, pink, and purple hydrangeas bloom in layers, providing a stunning view at every step.

With a blooming rate of over 90%, the main pathways and central square are already at their peak. Pink hydrangeas line the deck paths, creating a vibrant color palette, while the blue flowers in the storytelling area are also over 80% in bloom, promising a picturesque natural tunnel.

The most photogenic spot features the 'Whales Cart' running on the tracks, framed by the blue sea and flower fields. Timing your photo with the cart passing will capture a perfect exotic summer moment.

During the festival, some areas will operate on a paid basis, but visiting just before the event allows for a peaceful stroll at no cost. The village's gentle hills and dirt paths are best navigated in comfortable sneakers.

If you're planning a weekend visit, parking strategy is crucial. The closest parking lot fills up quickly, so it's advisable to park at Taehwa River Station and take the free shuttle bus that runs every 30 minutes.

After exploring the Jangsaengpo garden, a 20-30 minute drive will lead you to other pristine healing spots in Ulsan. Heading towards the city, you will find the Taehwa River National Garden, the second national garden in South Korea, perfect for a refreshing walk along the bamboo forest.

For a unique seaside view, crossing the Ulsan Bridge to reach Daewangam Park is recommended. Here, you can traverse a thrilling suspension bridge amidst ancient pine trees and striking rock formations, offering a dynamic and majestic experience.
