Training Professionals in Heuksan Skatefish for Regional Economic Revitalization

Heuksan County has established a significant platform for the sustainable development of the Heuksan skatefish industry.
On December 16, Heuksan County successfully held the graduation ceremony and certification presentation for the 6th Heuksan Skatefish Cutting School at the Comprehensive Welfare Center in Heuksan-myeon.
This year marks the 6th session of the Heuksan Skatefish Cutting School, which has been operating since 2020, systematically training professionals for the Heuksan skatefish industry.
A total of 12 students graduated from this course, all of whom received the 'Heuksan Skatefish Cutting Technician' beginner certification.
To date, a total of 81 skatefish cutting technicians have been trained, becoming a valuable human resource for the local skatefish industry and tourism.
The Heuksan Skatefish Cutting School plays a crucial role in addressing the shortage of personnel for skatefish processing and cutting due to the aging population in the Heuksan-do region.
Especially during peak seasons like holidays or tourism periods when the demand for skatefish surges, stable workforce availability has significantly contributed to job creation and income increase for local residents.
Choi Seo-jin, the principal of the Heuksan Skatefish Cutting School, stated, "As the number of skatefish cutting personnel increases, the local skatefish industry is becoming more vibrant. The cutting technique is becoming a significant part of local income, and we will strive to develop it further with a sense of mission."
A representative from Heuksan County mentioned, "As the number of skatefish cutting technicians gradually increases, the brand value of Heuksan skatefish is also rising. We will spare no administrative or institutional support to ensure that Heuksan skatefish grows into a globally recognized K-fermented food."
