The Chilyeonui Tomb in Muju: A Memorial to Patriotic Martyrs

Traces of righteous armies who fought for the country
Muju Chilyeonui Tomb
Hello.
I'm a SNS supporter of Muju-gun.
Today, I'd like to introduce Chilyeonui Tomb, a travel destination located in Anseong-myeon, Muju.
Located at the entrance of the Anseong Exploration Route of Deogyusan National Park, this is a meaningful place to commemorate the spirits of the righteous soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country at the end of the Korean Empire.
I recommend it to families, especially those planning a history trip with their children.
Let me introduce you to the basic information.

What is Chilyeonui Tomb?
Chilyeonui Tomb is a tomb area commemorating the spirits of Shin Myung-sun, a righteous army leader at the end of the Korean Empire, and his subordinates.
Shin Myung-sun, who was part of the army disbanded by the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1907, entered Muju, organized a righteous army, and
It is said that he fought against the Japanese army, centering on Deogyusan Mountain.
However, while resting in Songjeong Valley in Chilyeon Valley, he was killed in a surprise attack by the Japanese army.
Afterwards, surviving soldiers and Muju citizens collected the remains and buried them in various places.
In 1969, the people of Muju gathered the remains again to create a tomb area, which remains as the current 'Chilyeonui Tomb'.
This space is not just a historic site, but also a place to commemorate the spirit of the independence movement in Muju.
I silently prayed while visiting this place, and I thought it would be good for historical education if I visited with my children.
Tour the site
Chilyeonui Tomb is located about 5 minutes away from the Anseong Exploration Center.
At the beginning, there is a cool valley and a bridge, making it a great shaded walking path in summer.
If you cross the bridge and move to the opposite side of the valley, you will see the Chilyeonui Tomb monument.
In front of it, there is a small pavilion where villagers can take a break.
The tomb area behind the pavilion was simple but neatly maintained.
The surrounding area was surrounded by dense forest, so I could feel a quiet and solemn atmosphere.
There are such related tourist attractions around.

Finishing
Muju Chilyeonui Tomb is a place where you can spend a meaningful time in a quiet atmosphere.
It's not fancy, but I recommend you visit it at least once as it is a place to commemorate the spirit of those who sacrificed for the country.
It goes well with a walking course linked to Deogyusan National Park, and it was also good as a healing course with the sound of the valley water.
Muju, where history and nature come together. Today was also very good.
I'll say hello again at the next Mujinjang travel destination.
Thank you.
