Strengthening Agricultural Safety Measures Amid Heatwaves

In the ongoing heatwave,
efforts to protect the health and safety of farmers are being intensified.
On July 23, the head of the Rural Development Administration, Lee Seung-don,
visited Sinan County,
where close safety management activities were conducted
to prevent heat-related illnesses and create a safe working environment for farmers.
On this day, the Rural Development Administration,
the Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Agricultural Technology Center,
and the Sinan Agricultural Technology Center
visited agricultural sites with heat illness prevention personnel.
They provided guidance on safety rules for working in the heat,
delivered preventive materials, and conducted activities
to protect the health of farmers.
Especially for farmers continuing their work in the sweltering heat,
practical safety rules were emphasized,
including ensuring adequate rest, hydration,
and avoiding work during peak heat hours.
A meeting was also held with farmers
to listen to their voices on managing crop growth during high temperatures,
stabilizing farm income, and discussing heatwave response measures.
Practical support measures reflecting the difficulties faced in the field were also discussed.
The team then visited Easy Farm
to inspect the working environment inside the greenhouse,
providing guidance on heat illness prevention rules and health management tips.
Sinan County is committed to protecting the lives and health of farmers
as heatwaves become more commonplace due to climate change.
During heatwave alerts,
the county enhances village broadcasts,
text alerts, and monitoring of agricultural sites.
With heat illness prevention personnel leading the way,
the county is continuously promoting safety management activities for farmers.
Moving forward, Sinan County will work closely with the Rural Development Administration
to continue field-based prevention activities,
ensuring a safe agricultural environment where farmers can work with peace of mind.
