Spring Stroll Along Je-min Stream in Gongju

On a warm spring day, I visited Je-min Stream in Gongju.
Following a walking route recommended by a friend who lives in Gongju, I enjoyed a stroll along the stream, a tour of Gongju Fortress Market, and some great food.
Let me share my delightful outing in Gongju.

[Accessible Gongju Travel]
I live in Sejong and work in Daejeon, making Gongju an easily accessible travel destination from both locations.
Previously, I visited mainly historical sites and Donghaksa Temple, but this time I chose a different route along Je-min Stream.
I parked at the Gongju Fortress Market public parking lot.
Today, I've prepared a simple video. Enjoy!

[Je-min Stream Walk – Urban Healing Course]
Walking along Je-min Stream, you'll find charming shops, cafes, and eateries.
Sipping coffee while reading a book by the stream creates a wonderful atmosphere.
Je-min Stream starts in Geumhak-dong and flows through the city to Geumseong-dong, eventually reaching the Geum River.
Currently, it is developed as an ecological stream with well-maintained walking paths, green spaces, and resting areas, making it a popular spot for locals.
▲ Banjuk-dong Dangganji Park
[Midway Stop: Dangganji Park & Je-min Stream Nuri-gwan]
As you walk, you'll come across Banjuk-dong Dangganji Park, which once housed flagpoles used during ceremonies at Daetongsa Temple.
It has recently been renovated into a space for exercise and relaxation.
Right across from it is Je-min Stream Nuri-gwan.
1st Floor: Baekje Garam Room (Exhibition related to Daetongsa Temple)
2nd Floor: Urban Regeneration Love Room (Stories of Gongju's urban regeneration)
It's a nice cultural space for a quick visit.
▲ Gongju Hanok Village
[Gongju Hanok Village – Experience Traditional Korean Houses]
Near Je-min Stream, there's Gongju Hanok Village, which features traditional Korean houses.
You can stay overnight, and general visitors can explore the garden.
If you're with kids, I highly recommend trying the manual water pump or observing the traditional jars.
▲ Je-min Stream Photo Zone
As you walk along Je-min Stream, you'll find various murals and photo zones.
There's a sculpture of Gongju's character 'Gomagom,' which is great for taking pictures with kids.
In spring, it's also famous for its cherry blossom paths, offering different charms each season.
▲ Cafes & Eateries
During my walk, I stopped by a local cafe with a cozy atmosphere and delightful coffee aroma.
Taking a leisurely stroll and enjoying a cup of coffee is the true charm of Je-min Stream.
▲ Gongju Fortress Market Cultural Park
[Gongju Fortress Market – Full of Food & Fun]
Walking along Je-min Stream naturally leads you to Gongju Fortress Market.
This place is not just a market but is decorated like a cultural space.
With a night market, cultural park, kids' zone, and relaxation areas, it's a great spot for families.
We enjoyed watching and buying everything from puffed rice to spring flower seedlings.
Don't miss trying Jeongjeongmi, Gongju's representative delicacy!
▲ Affordable Snack Place Near Je-min Stream
After a good walk, I was hungry and had a meal at a snack place near Je-min Stream.
Operating Hours: Until 6 PM (early dinner recommended)
Great value and generous portions, especially the fried dumplings and fish cakes were delicious!
Though there was a wait, the food after the walk tasted even better.
I highly recommend this for your Gongju travel itinerary!
✔ A combination of walking, cafes, markets, and eateries
✔ A family-friendly course
✔ An ecological trail for urban healing
If you're planning a trip to Gongju, be sure to include a Je-min Stream tour in your day itinerary!
Just walking slowly can be a healing experience.
