Sinan County Recognized for Renewable Energy Leadership at the 7th Korea Solar League

Sinan County was awarded the Minister of Environment Award at the ‘7th Korea Solar League,’ reaffirming its position as a national leader in renewable energy distribution and performance.
What is the Korea Solar League?
The ‘Korea Solar League’ is a national competition where local governments and public/private institutions participate to showcase their achievements in renewable energy distribution and policy performance.
This year, over 200 local governments and institutions across the country participated. The final winners were selected after a rigorous document review and presentation evaluations.
Sinan County Achieves Top-Tier Results Nationwide
In 2023, Sinan County deployed 214 megawatts (MW) of new solar power facilities.
This resulted in:
Per capita distribution: 5.63 kilowatts (kW)
Distribution rate per area: 0.33 watts (0.33W/㎡)
These figures are among the highest in the country.
This achievement was highly evaluated not only for facility expansion but also for its ‘connection with the local energy strategy.’
In particular, Sinan County's resident-participatory solar power project, ‘Sunshine Pension,’ has garnered attention as the first innovative model in the country, allowing residents to directly participate in renewable energy production and profit.
Sinan-Style Energy Transition Extending to Offshore Wind Power
Sinan County is playing a leading role not only in solar power but also in offshore wind power generation.
Following the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award in 2021, the Minister of Environment Award in 2023, and the selection as an Excellent Local Government for Solar Power Distribution in 2024, Sinan County continues its reputation as an excellent local government for renewable energy for four consecutive years with the Minister of Environment Award in 2025.
Sinan County Moving Towards a Sustainable Future
Sinan County aims to achieve ‘energy transition where residents are the owners’ and plans to develop the solar and wind power industries, linking them to the local economy to create a sustainable development model.
The future of carbon neutrality and regional co-prosperity created by ‘1004 Island Sinan’ always has a path of energy transition where people and nature coexist at its center.
