Shinan County Recognized for Excellence in Tick-Borne Disease Prevention

On December 5th, Shinan County was selected as an excellent local government at the
'2025 Tick-Borne Infectious Disease Prevention Management Project Evaluation Competition'
hosted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
The county received a commendation from the Commissioner of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
This evaluation was conducted among 107 local governments nationwide,
assessing the establishment of project plans tailored to regional characteristics,
operational performance, and infectious disease response capabilities.
The event aimed to comprehensively review these factors to select outstanding institutions.
Shinan County received high praise for its proactive approach in reaching out to high-risk groups for infectious diseases.
The county has actively promoted prevention management projects by collaborating across various departments.
Additionally, identifying high-risk areas for tick-borne diseases in advance and implementing tailored prevention initiatives garnered significant positive feedback.
In particular, prevention education and promotional activities were strengthened for the following groups:
✓ Senior job participants
✓ Garden maintenance workers
✓ Farmers
✓ Senior university students
These consistent efforts have been recognized as greatly enhancing the overall awareness of infectious disease prevention within the community.
Kim Hyun-hee, the head of Shinan County Health Center, stated,
"Tick-borne infectious diseases have no vaccines, so prevention is the best approach."
She added, "We will continue to do our utmost in preventive activities to protect the health of our residents."
Looking ahead, Shinan County plans to use this achievement as a stepping stone
to further strengthen tick-borne infectious disease prevention activities
and minimize the occurrence of infectious diseases within the community.
