Jeongamsa Temple, founded by Great Master Jajang during the Silla Dynasty, is especially famous as one of the five major Jeokmyeolbogung temples enshrining the Buddha's relics.
Since Jeokmyeolbogung means 'a hall enshrining the Buddha's relics,' unlike typical temples, there are no Buddha statues inside the hall. Instead, it is said that the relics are enshrined in the Sumano Pagoda visible through the window behind the hall, which is truly special.
Entering Jeongamsa Temple
When you arrive at the entrance of Jeongamsa Temple, you will find a large parking lot, making it easy to park your car. The first thing you'll encounter after parking is the Iljumun Gate.
The Iljumun Gate is said to be the first gateway separating the secular world from the world of Buddha. Passing through the simple yet neat Iljumun Gate, I felt my complicated mind calm down.
Passing through the Iljumun Gate, a landscape unfolds before you, harmoniously blending Jeongseon's beautiful nature with the old temple buildings. When I went in late September, the autumn foliage was just beginning, but I think you can experience a much more wonderful autumn landscape now.

As I entered the grounds, the cool sound of the valley stream and the fresh mountain air refreshed my whole body.

When you enter the Jeokmyeolbogung Hall, instead of a Buddha statue, there is a large window at the back. The structure is designed so that the Sumano Pagoda on the mountainside is visible at a glance through this window, which was really impressive.
After looking around the hall, I took a leisurely walk up to the Sumano Pagoda, fully enjoying the tranquil atmosphere of the temple.

Spending time breathing in the fresh air and walking to Sumano Pagoda made my mind feel comfortable.
